I'm not sure, but its always cold when they have it. Maybe ***dragger or Atch will know the exact date. For that matter, I saw Kenny (choprods) at the swap last year, so maybe he knows... Seems like its usually around the middle of January.
[ QUOTE ] Maybe ***dragger or Atch will know the exact date. [/ QUOTE ] actuallly i'm glad that dean asked. i was going to post the very same question this morning. i'm lookin' forward to it.
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Would not mind going up myself [/ QUOTE ] Sounds like a road trip !!!! Visor ????? [/ QUOTE ] Would be nice to see some of you guys, but not sure if its worth the Drive for you. It has been getting better every year but at least 50% of it is Race Car and Muscle Car stuff.
[ QUOTE ] I called the fairgrounds. The man on the phone said, "That racin' car part deally? Feb 19 and 20th." [/ QUOTE ] Thats the main swap meet, there is also a Mopar swap the weekend after (or before) in the same building.
Since I've never been..... Is it worth a 4 hour road trip? How big? Early Ford stuff or mostly late model Chev and race parts? 'Preciate it.
In my personal opinion, 25% of the stuff that was there last year would have been relavent to the HAMB. I was there early and there were plenty of "Jewels" mixed in with the Junk and Racing parts, but they got snapped up pretty quick. At least half of it is racing parts and musclecar stuff, and the rest is Streetrod and stuff like Diecast cars, RC Cars, T-Shirts, etc...
It's pretty much race car (roundy round ****) stuff. But I always come home with something I didn't know I needed. Gets pretty dusty too. Hard on the eyes, and nose after awhile, and it's cold enough outside, to freeze the hair off a br*** monkeys balls. Dean
19th and 20th? Is that the weekend after the Daytona 500? Even though I sell race parts I don't pay much attention to Winston....er, uh....Nextel Cup racing (I think it's still called that). Cape Girardeau, MO swap meet is always/usually on the same weekend as Daytona.
Yes, Feb. 19/20 is the date on my entry form. I plan to get a space to purge the rust pile and have a place to keep the beer on ice. See ya'll there.
Ive been to the one held at a horse arena just west of Columbia on the north side of 70. It was kinda small! I did score a holly 600 carb with a banjo fitting for 5 bucks so I couldent complain. If the one at the Booneville fairgrounds is the same weekend as Cape I would have to choose Cape, I had good luck down there and only 2 hours out of St Louis. Last years got screwed up because of a snow storm! Are it may have been 2 years ago!
I think I got the answer to my earlier question about the timing of Columbia/Cape meets. Someone told me today Cape's is the 20th, so if that is indeed the Daytona weekend that would be probably verify it. I think the snow storm meet was 2 years ago. I looked out the window at 5:00 AyeM and went back to bed!
Im pretty sure im goin. Will they have any food and drinks being sold there? 7 of us are taking a road trip down there. Nick
[ QUOTE ] Im pretty sure im goin. Will they have any food and drinks being sold there? 7 of us are taking a road trip down there. Nick [/ QUOTE ] They do have food and drinks at the fairgrounds, I've never eaten there though. Looks like burgers, hotdogs, and nachos, that kinda stuff. If I remember right, the food prices were pretty good. Columbia is fairly large city, lots of good restaurants in town. Dean
The Highway 63 exit, where you get off I-70 has a Cracker Barrel, a Bob Evans, a Steak n' Shake, a KFC, a Burger King, and a Mickey D's all nearby... And yes the Fairgrounds has food too.
[ QUOTE ] if yer interested in REAL food hit up the 63 Diner; about a mile straight west of the fairgrounds. [/ QUOTE ] Brown Station road goes all the way through now, so if you get off at the fairgrounds/Oakland gravel Rd. exit and go straight west about a mile to the first/only traffic light then go north/right about a half mile, 63 diner will be on the left/west side of the road If you decide to go before (mistake) the swap meet and you are coming from the east or west, take I-70 to exit 127 which is 763, go north 2-3 miles and 63 diner is on your left/west side....YOU CANT MISS IT!!!
