Hey All, Have been a member of a forum in OZ for some time and have seen many references to the H.A.M.B. so i thought i would check it out a few times and now have decided to join. I have had some mid 60's cars including the 65 falcon hardtop i just sold to fund my 37 ford pickup. Plans for the future include a 36 ford 5 window coupe, my dad had one in the 60's and hope to post some pics for your viewing soon. Regards Gerry
This is the basis for my Rod I know its an Aussie cab not an US cab but down under they are worth thousands, and this one was a farmers that i deal with and he gave it to me. Gerry
Now that is a term that I have not heard in a while Louie. Of course I don't see many Falcons with Mercury front fenders over here either <G>. I hope to make another trip back to Oz later this year, maybe we should organize a HAMB get together. I saw sideplate six early last year when I was back there but was a little busy last December. I don't know where that name originated from, but I've always known them as a fishop; since I was a kid. Must do some research. I just got back into looking on here after loosing interest a bit. And other priorities. Now about to start working on my Dodge again. Here goes! Louie
Hi Guy's, not to sure bout the merc fenders, this is how they were built in OZ. The term Fish Shop apparently came from the fact that any Greek/Mediterranean man with a fish 'n' chip shop also had an xk,l,m,p falcon. Gerry

Major channel. Do you want to drive this thing? Do some serious mocking up with seating, pedal and steering wheel positions first, those cabs ain't too roomy - I know, I've worked on one. I understand where you're headed with this, but please, don't build a cramped, undriveable cartoon. Your choice of course!
Welcome from the Shaky Isles. Yes, the XP Falcon used early (US) Mercury Comet front fenders/mudguards with its own, Galaxie-inspired rear styling. This set up is quite different from what American Falcs had mid-1960s. Cool ride...
Planning on full mock up first chassis will be low with 4" drop beam and minimum travel front and rear. Luckily i am a short arse so for me it wont be to bad but want it to be drivable for sure, cant understand having a rod or kustom and not driving it. Gerry

Hey Fullhouse, nice to be gettin so many replies, when i joined another rod forum i battled to get a hello, i read some of the doo's and doo nots on this one and like what i hear, although i cant afford to build a totally period perfect traditional rod, i plan to do the period perfect traditional thing by building what i can with what i can afford and scratch up, steel cab steel cycle guards/fenders as we cant run a car here with out some form of fenders, original 35-40 chassis, borg warner diff, 302 clevo and c4 (i know not truly a trad rod engine but it cost me $300 so i went with it) paint will no doubt be primer as gloss stuff costs a whole bunch that i wont have once the build is done. Any way will post some more pics soon Gerry

Gday Gerry & Welcome., Yeh sweet fishop. Be nice to get down Gambier way again. Thats a nice cab. Got any ideas/ plans re. it ? Some nice, radical kustom- rods have come outta Mt. Gambier over time.
