I've been working on a trade deal the last couple of weeks to get this phaeton. I traded a 36 five window coupe for it. Friday after work we headed out for the Portland swap meet with the 36 on the trailer. Stayed at a friends house and head for Vancouver at 5:30 A.M.. Met Ron at his dad's house and swapped the two cars. I bought a few 33/34 parts at the swap meet, but that all I really cared to look at. I kept wanting to go dig all those pieces out of the truck to look at them We headed back for Spokane Saturday night. Yesterday I pretty much spent all day looking at my new treasure. I kind of mocked up the body with bailing wire and a strap. It came with a lot of all the hard to find pieces and also came with a lot of extras. One of the back halves is a cut off sedan that will be used to fix the Phaeton piece (the black one). I bought a frame from my Dad, but still need to find a floor. This thing is going to be kind of a stitch job, but hey it's a 33/34 phaeton. I got lots of time a head of me being's I'm 23 years old and also got lot's of ambition for it. I like Phaetons a lot, but like roadsters even more. They are both the same from the front doors forward. Would not have to cut, or destroy anything, So I may be calling Steve's Auto for some quarters. This thing was also in a magazine way back in the day. Thanks again Ron! So what do you guys think, make a pretty sweet rat rod?
Good for you! I know all about wanting a Phaeton for a long time. That's going to be a great car just always remember it'll get there if you keep going. Lotsa work but well worth it. Tim
Corey, quite being such a copy-cat. Next thing you'll be wanting to sell that to Dad to buy a roadster...
corey, congrats on the phaeton,i've got 1 on the road and another in pieces similar to yours, the 1 i have in bits had a similary bad tub, lucky enough i was able to purchase a sedan rear that had already been modified for tub use,i'll post some pics soon. IMOP,leave it a tub,a lot rarer and unique and pretty much unbeatable in looks when done right, thommo.
I really don't think that can be brought back. You best just bring it over. Steve's is closer to me anyway. I like the roadster idea but also have a thing for phaetons. Nice scope. That looks like a solid 5-winder. It must have been hard top let it go.
It is an ok coupe body, but in reality, probably needs the same about of body work. This phaeton will just be a little more for parts. Are you still working on that rat rod coupster?
He was really quiet when we were loading it up. He told me he would sell me a floor if he had a 33, but would not sell a 34 floor... what a stocker. So I went out to his place to look at it. AFTER I moved and and loaded a bunch of T rear ends for him, he said he wasn't selling any 33/34 stuff. he also tricked my Dad into coming out and moving stuff.
I might need to borrow your roadster quarters, deck lid, pannel above and bellow. Might as well use your cowl and doors too. Go a head and just have Lenny pick it up.
You and your brother definitely are all over the place....and I love it! I wouldn't mind seeing this thing on the back burner only because I want to see your coupe finished!!!! But if not it's a win win!
Harvey was telling me at the V-8 meeting that all he want was a 34 ford roadster. It was all I could do to keep myself from telling him you had bought one.
Man you and your brother have it bad..... I don't know what your Dad did to you two when you were kids, but I'd like to know so I can try it on mine.
My brothers simply a hoarder. I have to work on his stuff for him, so if I get time I'll finish his coupe and start on this thing. My brother will just be slammin beers and watching me work.
