Sectioned truck lids

    Can some one point me in the right direction.


    I am looking for some "how to" on sectioning a a truck lid. Specifically 49-54 chevy. I know it's out there I just can't it.

    pete, call slide. i know he did a lot on the car he sold fred. he added more of a crown to his back fenders and im pretty sure he did some hood and trunk work to it.

    Hey,

    " Truck lid "?

    Besides Flop's post on the work he did to his tin indian deck lid, the one with many photos, I'd suggest you align the trunk opening to the deck lid PRIOR to making any cuts. This will save you alot of time, and if you're planning a heavy section, will save you from distortion from the welding heat. Tack some round stock inbetween the decklid & the quarters & the dutchman panel. Now you can cut and weld as your design warrants. If you choose to not go this route, plan on doing alot of corrective repair work on your decklid gaps after welding.

    Haha sorry... Deck Lid. My bad.

    Good advice.

    I dig Flop and his thread and the detailed pics of the outside work. I guess I'm looking for some info on the internal, structural work.

    i didnt do my inside work yet

    but if ya want it to look stock theres gonna be a donor lid needed well atleast in my case.

    mine is tacked together make sure ya do it while inside the trunk and it was a perfect fit (by inside the trunk i mean have your buddy shut it on ya haha.so ya dont get it twisted when its off the car.

    there is also a b*** thread of him doing the inside of a fastback decklid i do believe.
