Scoob, that is just hyper-cool ! I really envy your luck. This is kinda like American Pickers, but you get to keep the diner!

  2. I think I know how it works, I buy a lot of things I never do much with either. Sometimes I do well, other times I sit on them for months.

And last fall I had a shot at buying all the porcelain-covered metal panels from a 1940s era gas station. At a live auction. Was enough there to build at least one, including the smaller gl*** doors. If I'd just sold my A pickup then, I might have bid on it - it only sold for around $600. Like a jigsaw puzzle, except the pieces were all square. I don't know WTF I would have done with it, I don't even have someplace to set it up.

I would imagine if you can store that thing someplace secure, sooner or later you can sell it to a guy who wants to build a little diner with it. I know for instance there's a diner like that in Syracuse NY that just closed and went up for sale - one of the problems with it is it's small, it's only like 40'x24' - the last owner wanted to expand but never could come up with a loan because of the economy - something like you have would be perfect for a guy to use to add on to a place like that.

that actually makes me feel quite a bit better. I love white castle. I'd buy one if I could. I'd even buy a new one...and just live there eating steamed meat and pulling my own finger.

Doc. I've got a little bobble head devil in my kitchen that I'm going to mail to your house and I need you to sit it on your shoulder and listen to all of the things he has to say. He's downright inspiring at times. It's being dis***embled now and we'll have it picked up and and pictures taken by the beginning of the week at the latest. The pictures I posted are from yesterday as it looks right now.

  6. I got a truck and trailer, and I've been to both you knucklehead's houses.....may I be of ***istance?
Better hurry, Doc.....Scoob will have it sold or traded off by tomorrow morning! Haahahaha! You guys are rulers---both of ya

I don,t know if anyone sugested this but if your pool is small enough put the whole thing around your pool with a retractable roof.

Unclescooby, you have always been one of my favorite Hamber's. I love to read the stuff you post. Just wanted you to know that. One of my favorite threads of all time was from you and started out like "I walked out into my garage at 2 am and realized I don't have a life sized robot" .......gotta love that!

haha...I had actually forgotten about that....although the theme is strikingly familiar...I had to take a moment and look that one up...

See? Questionable judgment has been a recurring theme for me for some time now.

That being said, you sir, are a hero to me. I think we'd have a blast but really dangerous if we ever got to spend time together. I've seen some of the things you've hauled home. Your hauler is also way cooler than anything I have.

Awesome!!! I have always wanted a stainless steel dinner to add on to my family's drive in that's been in our family going on 63 years. for additional seating. I just never had the guts to pull the trigger.
    One day hopefully

you sir are my new hero!!!!

  17. What would I do with the diner?
Easy answer for me. My garage measures 24'x50'.
I would attatch the diner to my outside walls, with a little modification of course on the front to accomodate the pair of doors for cars to access thru.
Disguise the doors with more neon and stainless and nobody would know they were there.
On the other hand it would be a fun challange to modify my large garden shed into a stainless diner shed.
ahhh...........so many projects , so little time.

Too Cool! This is my buddy's diner. He bought it in a little town about 30 miles from us. We had it moved and put it inside his shop. We are gonna restore it, at least make the cooler work, so we can keep our beer cold!

  19. I am in agreement that the pool should be inside the diner. If not, how about parking the diner somewhere on your property and filling it with more awesome krap! Build a motorcycle museum or something!

I am not sure what I would do with the diner. Your wife is beautiful, and your children are sweet and friendly. I might be up for a road trip. I could use a Diner wall in the shop. You have a sickness. PM me if you are cutting it up.

  24. Where the hell do you get the money? ****, I have trouble feeding myself let alone buying wild **** like a diner!

I've been wanting to find an old train car to put next to my garage to use as a hangout space, etc. Scooby, since you have the diving rods for this sorta thing, lemme know what you find. Keep in mind I'm not made of money either (see my sig) haha.

I was going to suggest that you stop drinking, but why? Who wouldn't want the inside of a bowling alley, and a movie theater or the outside of a diner?
These all seem like sound choices. Keep it up.

Even though you don't have it any more, that is sweet that you did have the drive in, from here in Kearney!! I drive by the empty lot, twice, everyday. They are trying to sell it off to put storage units on. The drive in, up until a couple of years ago was my favorite place to cruise to and catch a couple movies on a friday night. Only on the HAMB do you read about stuff like this!

My wife is very understanding but I'm almost certain she would go through the roof if I brought a DINER home! But then again this one doesn't have a roof so we're safe. I'm jealous. Envious. Confused. Even feeling a little lonely and empty now that I realize I will never have a diner of my own. Will you just be my friend? Tell me it will be okay on occasion?
