Brake Pad riviting

    The short answer is no. That is a harness makers riveter, made for riveting leather, typically using split rivets. There are some brake shoe riveters that come up from time to time, they will look something like this - http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/130 . They should be in a little kit, with a spotfacing tool to sink the rivet heads into the lining, and maybe a couple of dies to swage the rivet. Note that this tool clamps into a vise, and you use a hammer to swage the rivets, that way you get enough clamping force to hold the lining in place.

    It won't work. IIRC, you need something that installs "star set" rivets.

    I worked in one shop that did it years ago for truck linings. I never used the equipment myself and we got out of the relining and grinding business shortly after.

    Cool, good to know. Some of the guys on Ebay state they will. Snyder's tool is cheap enough. I'll grab one of them when the time comes.
