I used a kit from Butch's Rod Shop, which is now www.butchscoolstuff.com. Contact Butch and he will put you in touch with the guy that made the kits for him. I believe the kits are still available. I put a 302 & C4 in my 51 and it was easy with the kit. If you can find a 6-cylinder radiator for 49-51, it also works well. The 6-cylinder radiator mounts on the front of the radiator support panel (V8 mounts on the back of the panel) so you will have to trim your front gravel pan if your car had a V8. You will probably have to modify the transmission hump if your car is 49-50 (51 has a bigger hump, as it was first year for automatic transmission in Ford). I used some old Ford iron exhaust manifolds and they fit fine, but I can't remember what they came on originally (someone on here will probably have that info for you).

    Good luck with your project.

Went for the odd, didn't want to stay the same as everybody else so I used a 91 Lincoln Town Car 4.6 [281 cu in] SOHC fuel injected engine and the AOD, used the front suspension also so it has the power steeering and disc brakes, removed the entire wiring harness out of the 91 stripped the electric I did not want, door locks , electric windows, cigarette lighters, electric antenna, etc, then put it in my chopped 51, starts and runs perfect, even moulded the speedo into the dash, lots of time and work but that's what makes it ONE OF A KIND.

Put a 383 BB mopar with 727 in ours. Had to rewrok trans tunnel and recess the firewall. We got a header kit from speedway and made the headers. Did not have to change suspension or steering.

Kit?....took the 5 liter/AOD out of the 85 T Bird in the back yard and put it in the 50 Ford 2DR sdn after pulling the flatmotor and 4 speed out for the 29 PU....Had to trim the back half off the frt crossmember and box it; but fabbed up all mounting brkts and moved trans mtg rearward for a fairly easy installation....no steering problems here...the floor hump took some modifying and the TV cable for trans was a learning lesson....Thank goodness didn't burn trans up...(did put a 4bbl and mallory dist in place of EFI) Made a real nice cruiser...already had 8" rearend
