Now this is my kind of support group! My F1 has only been 8 years. Finally got it down to the bare frame last Fall. Life keeps getting in the way via bills, medical, etc...

My '78 F150 on the other hand, I've been dragging that thing around for 20 years. Likely another 20 before I start on it.

Haven't touched the Studebaker in 2 years and have had it for 3, haven't touched the Rambler in 1 year and have hade it for 2.

Damn, I don't feel too bad at all! I'm actually doin' pretty good! I've managed to get 2 other vehicles running as reliable daily's so I feel pretty good. The Rambler is coming home in 2 weeks for full tear down and resto!

Started off with this 25 years ago.

Completed several other projects over those 25 years, but the F100 was still on the back burner. I've made the most progress on it over the past year.

As it sits now. Maybe this will be the year it hits the street.

I have had my '62 unibody for 21 yrs and it has been chopped for 12 yrs and still doesn't have a windshield. Also been working on '47 ford truck for 6 or 7 yrs and I've had my Galaxie for 13 yrs and it's the only one that is done. Also working on '29 roadster for 4 yrs, just too many irons in the fire.

ive got that problem too , ive been planning on painting my 55 chevy truck flat black for 8-9 years but now all the "rat rods" and "murdered out" SUVs have ruined it for me , oh well , might just do it anyway . but then again i have been thinking flat silver .

I bought my Model A coupe body almost exactly 10 years ago. I was 21, and in college. I had no time and even less money. Since then, I graduated college, got married, moved 4 times, and finally bought a house with a garage. A year and a half ago I finally pulled the thing outta my parents shed and put it in MY garage. It'll be on the road in about a month!! I'm so excited about it. Weird actually, if I hadn't been laid off, I probably wouldn't have finished it for another 5 years. Haha

  11. My 58 Biscayne 2dr parts car.. Had I known what I know now, I wouldn't have saved it from the crusher. Impala parts are easy to find, Biscaynes aren't common. I bought it in Spring of '98.

I've had a 1957 English Ford Consul convertible for at least 10 years that hasn't been touched, my 63 Triumph t-100 SC hasn't moved since 1997.

  20. Bought Lulubelle in '96 or '97; was going to use the engine as a core to rebuild for my '49 Plymouth, and sell off the body.

    But, the body didn't sell.

    Didn't keep the Plymouth.

Got rid of the truck's smoking motor in about 2000.

Put a 383 in her about five years back. She was on the road for a couple weeks. Until the engine got over-revved.

Started building a replacement engine for the 'chowdered' big block as soon as I got the truck home. Got it finished and installed last fall. On the road for a couple months, now she's back off the road for brake work.

Maybe I'll get to drive her next summer...[IMG]

Bought my 1936 Chevy Coupe in 1958. Working on it steady now.

  23. Saw this car in the Beach Party movie in about 62. Always wanted to build one. Started in 1980, finished it in 2004. 24 years. Built a bunch of cars in between, kept putting this one on the back burner. Drove it a couple of years and gave it to my daughter. She has wanted it since I started building it. She drives the wheels off it. She is 35. Pat.

Now he picks on us. Originally built in 1973 for the Street Rod Nationals in Tulsa and driven there from McGregor, Texas as a painted and upholstered but unfinished truck.
It has always been in a state of under construction and never finished.

One reason is that I have changed my mind on things too many times and started over again.

1981 in front of my inlaws house in McGregor, TX when we were down for a visit and the Lone Star Run

The little girl in this photo just turned 31 last July to put things in prospective

Near the starting line on the long track Aug 89. One of many shades of purple primer that it had over the years.

That trip was the last long one the truck made and was an 8 day triangle from Toppenish, Wa to Bonneville, from Bonneville to Plesanton and Plesanton back to Toppenish.

Hiding out in the dark out behind the garage a couple of months ago waiting for the full rebuild that it has been promised.

And it has actually been an ongoing project that has never been finished since 1973.
    four engines
    Six transmissions
    five rear ends
Working on the third frame now.
working on the third cab now. (suicide doors don't like flying open at speed).

While it has been somewhat therpeutic to read your stories, I am still embarassed to admit that, besides getting air ride by Killer and new floor pans and frame/body reinforcement by Fabian, my '59 has been sitting since shortly after Paso '01. I am happy to report that progress WILL resume this year.

I bought it in 1996 as a nosed and decked post car.
