Any one getting the new "Deuce" book from the Rodder's Journal? I just got an email from them about it today. It looks pretty cool, but 75 bones. It's get a 15 % HAMB Alliance discount though I think. It's 500 pages and weighs 10 pounds. There will be 3200 total I think. The first 1100 will be signed and numbered. It covers the 75 most significant Deuces from the anniversary. I am debating the purchase......Check it out. http://www.roddersjournal.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=47&products_id=187
When I look at my bookshelf and I see the plethora of books about 1932 Fords I often ask myself, *Why buy another one??* What is there to say or depict about the Deuce that hasn't already been covered by 10x by people like Tony Thacker, Ken Gross, Bob Genat, et al ad infinitum............but I have asked myself that each time I buy another book........... CB
I think I'll wait until they do a Model A book. JUST KIDDING!! LOL The first books should be really collectable. Larry T
I waited too long to get the Strother MacMinn book, and it sold out quickly. I eventually got one off e-bay, but had to pay up. I bought mine yesterday to be sure I got one (and I write for them!).
EXACTLY what I did! I kicked myself for a couple of days for missing out on the MacMinn book. Now I need to find one on ebay...
Ponied up the money within minutes of getting the e-mail. Never have enough deuce books. I went to the GNRS to see the great 75 that were there, this will be a memory to look back on when I'm in the home?
I am sure it will be very nice. $75 in parts or $75 on the book. I would love to see a "Jalopy" book. Something like the detail in Rodders Journal, but with many makes. Maybe an "Odd Rod" book.
Just as I was hoping, you guys talked me into buying one. I ordered mine this morning. If I didn't I'll be kicking my self 6 monthes from now.
Boy, I don't know. On the one hand,it looks like a great book. On the other, how many of these will be cars we haven't seen many times before? On the other hand, I buy almost every car book I can find that's reasonable. Yet, for $75 i could get some really unique or collectible stuff at swap meets or something for my car. I'm a big reader, but at some point a guy's got to get out of the armchair and out into the shop.
I'm gonna ask for as a b-day present. And if that doesn't work I'll guilt my wife into it...lol. You can never have too many deuce books!!!
I debated about buying it for about 10 minutes... and then I ordered it. I figured that if it's the usual quality work that Rodder's Journal does it well be well worth it.
I ordered mine within a few minutes of getting the email. I hope it arrives signed and numbered. I have every TRJ and I have Throttle as well and yes I am also kicking myself for not ordering Mac's book at the time it came out. I was fortunate to have Mac for two classes at Art Center and visit with him at his home several times as he only lived a few blocks from me...Now I too will have to hunt for that great 'missing' book. I wasn't going to miss this one....400+ pages, 10+ lbs of TRJ quality? It's a steal.
Kinda funny....I posted a thread on the Strother MacMinn book when it came out and a lot of folks complained about how expensive it was but it was well worth the money. Be sure to checkout the HAMB AUCTION: Deuce, the new 1932 Ford book from The Rodder's Journal thread ... it sure would be cool to have #0032 ... but the bidding got out of my range very quickly ... so I just bought a copy for $75.
Just got off the phone,,,I just treated myself to a nice Birthday present,, BTW,,the alliance discount does not apply to this book although they cover the freight. HRP
Just ordered mine and found out there is no discount for Alliance members--hope that's true about the shipping.
