Rodder's Journal new "Deuce" book

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Krash, Apr 15, 2010.

  1. Any one getting the new "Deuce" book from the Rodder's Journal? I just got an email from them about it today. It looks pretty cool, but 75 bones. It's get a 15 % HAMB Alliance discount though I think. It's 500 pages and weighs 10 pounds. There will be 3200 total I think. The first 1100 will be signed and numbered. It covers the 75 most significant Deuces from the anniversary. I am debating the purchase......Check it out.

When I look at my bookshelf and I see the plethora of books about 1932 Fords I often ask myself, *Why buy another one??* What is there to say or depict about the Deuce that hasn't already been covered by 10x by people like Tony Thacker, Ken Gross, Bob Genat, et al ad infinitum............but I have asked myself that each time I buy another book...........

I think I'll wait until they do a Model A book. JUST KIDDING!! LOL
The first books should be really collectable.

I waited too long to get the Strother MacMinn book, and it sold out quickly. I eventually got one off e-bay, but had to pay up. I bought mine yesterday to be sure I got one (and I write for them!).

Ponied up the money within minutes of getting the e-mail. Never have enough deuce books. I went to the GNRS to see the great 75 that were there, this will be a memory to look back on when I'm in the home?

I am sure it will be very nice. $75 in parts or $75 on the book.

I would love to see a "Jalopy" book. Something like the detail in Rodders Journal, but with many makes. Maybe an "Odd Rod" book.

Boy, I don't know. On the one hand,it looks like a great book. On the other, how many of these will be cars we haven't seen many times before? On the other hand, I buy almost every car book I can find that's reasonable. Yet, for $75 i could get some really unique or collectible stuff at swap meets or something for my car. I'm a big reader, but at some point a guy's got to get out of the armchair and out into the shop.

I debated about buying it for about 10 minutes... and then I ordered it.

I figured that if it's the usual quality work that Rodder's Journal does it well be well worth it.

  20. I ordered mine within a few minutes of getting the email. I hope it arrives signed and numbered. I have every TRJ and I have Throttle as well and yes I am also kicking myself for not ordering Mac's book at the time it came out. I was fortunate to have Mac for two classes at Art Center and visit with him at his home several times as he only lived a few blocks from me...Now I too will have to hunt for that great 'missing' book.
I wasn't going to miss this one....400+ pages, 10+ lbs of TRJ quality? It's a steal.

Kinda funny....I posted a thread on the Strother MacMinn book when it came out and a lot of folks complained about how expensive it was but it was well worth the money.
