posted these on my build thread but didn't get a responce, so I'll throw them up here to see if anyone has any info on them. I bought these at the portland swap meet, paid 2 bills(hope no one has a garage full of them they can't give away)I have never seen some like them and judging by the way they are built I would think that they are an older design. The guy claimed that they were made in 65-66, I havent found anything on the net to back that up though. I don't think that fake knock offs were available till the late 70's or 80's were they? I'll probably figure out a more traditional center cap(thinking about triing out some of that sand casting outlined on the techweek.
I believe those are what is on my Old Roadster T, 15X6.00 5 on 4 3/4" pattern which came to me with the car, built in 1969, and have Cragar S/S spinner caps. I have 2 more with Ford 5 on 4 1/2" pattern for the 33 Dodge front axle I plan on using for the next roadster. Sadly, the chrome rims don't look anything like those.
Thanks For the info!!! I didn't realize that they had used those centercaps that early, thought I might get laughed off the board for my 80's style if I used them
I think you're right. The wheels on my '64 are also from Hollywood Accessories (ca. 1963, according to Rallen Speed Shop, Studio City, CA who so;d tem to me, new, in their boxes, back in '78 - they'd been sitting in the shop since new) and were available with a knock-off, as well.
I have a pair, except mine have a two blade knock-off. The chrome on my wheels was really pitted, so I painted them.
I have 3 of them sitting in the back yard. The chrome is long gone and I wasn't sure about the look, but seeing those painted ones I might just keep them.
I think they're cool! And to think that Sears was selling these back in the day.... How times have changed.
I went out and looked at mine because I remembered the cap being different. Mine has the name Hollywood cast in the back of the spoke, but it uses a screw on cap, 5 screws like so many wheels had.
I bought a new pair of 14in by 6in Hollywoods in 1967 for the front of my factory 66 350 HP Deuce, The centre cap had only 2 blades if I remember right
Actually, these wheels are known as the Barela Wheel. They were produced by Hollywood Rim & Wheel in '64, Manufactured by A&H Foundry and designed by a young Salesian High School student who majored in Mechanical Design. He was granted a job with HRW when his design was chosen in a class project. There were two designs to chose from. My father is the person who designed the ones seen in the pictures and another design based of Radir wheels.
What tire is that? It looks almost exactly like a Firestone LXX tire but I don't think they were available until the early 1970s. The only differences I can really see is that the ribs are painted white and the whitewall looks a bit thicker. http://www.madle.org/elxx.htm

I am looking for a set of these... any one have some 15x6 4-3/4 laying around? I thought I had bought a set of 4 about a year ago, but the seller (Craigslist) weirded out on me... Got my money back, but I really wanted the wheels.
Does anyone have one 14x6 4.5 inch ( MOPAR OR FORD) bolt pattern wheel for sale I will buy one or two. I have three and am trying to complete a set for my 62 dodge dart SMITTY 30 937 4541
Weird story....was just at the Turlock swap meet this past weekend and picked up a set of 4 15x6 all aluminum Hollywood mags in Chevy pattern. Never seen these before..or so I thought. As I was buying them...the guy told me..." I bought 2 of them from you"...I thought he was mistaken...but he was adamant he got 2 from me. As he told me more...I remembered that about a year and a half ago..I bought 2 mags like this with tires...and he caught me on the way back to my truck, and I flipped them to him for a small profit. But I ask him....you already had the two others? 4 matching wheels....two different vendors over a couple year span. Wheels I don't recall ever seeing besides the two I bought/sold..now the set of 4 I now have. I just dig their early round spoke, fat hub look. They look early to me....I think they'll go great on my 55 Chevy...anyone else ever seen an aluminum Hollywood wheel like these? Were they still called Barela like the steel/aluminum version?
I know this is an old thread but if you still have those Hollywood wheels I would love to see a picture. I believe my dad had the same wheels on his 64 corvair spyder. Thanks, Norm
I sent AKH wheels an email I was told that they had only had 2 sets of the 5 spokes and had never had any 4 spokes in 39 years. WOW, I guess its going to be tough finding a set of 4 spokes. BUMMER
send @Nads a PM, he claimed to have some, but it was 5 years ago.... the 5 spoke wheels are scarce, and the 4 spokes are super rare , I have never seen one
Wow, how cool is that ? Small world, huh ? Don[/QUOTE] Hi Don, was you the guy I talked to who was from rt.51 south hills of Pittsburgh. What was the name of that parts store that had all the cool looking wheels in there front window? I think it was on RT51. My uncle owned the Fairhaven Market by the trolley tracks..
