So I'll be hanging out a lot more here, now. We gave him a deposit today, and as soon as my paycheck clears I'm giving him the last $600. I sold my Dart Wagon and my Challenger to make room for her. My girlfriend wants to paint it pink, but until we're ready to do all the prep work she's ok with me shooting it primer black with flames. The metal on this car is ROCK SOLID, the brakes work and all the trim is in tact except 1 missing headlight bezel and the ashtrays.
I'm used to driving beater 70's Mopar musclecars. They have a character all their own, but what got me about the Buick was the engine turned dash, the glass jewel gear indicator, all the little stuff like that. Depressing the gas pedal to engage the starter. I could go on. We looked at some other 50's cars for her, and hse liked them all, but I told her "Hold out, when you see the right one, you'll know" The best part is now I won't get grief for spending time in the garage. She's now dead set on building a 425 for it herself, with me merely there to provide guidance and advice.
That isn't a Century. What you have there is the larger body Super or Roadmaster. The Century and Special share the same body. All 55 Buicks do share numerous parts however. I just dimantled a Century and have several boxes of parts. I've got bezels and ashtrays.

That tripped me out because I noticed it had the front indicators in the bezel, not under it. As far as the ashtrays you have are they engine turned like the dash? PM me and we'll discuss it further.
Hey Dude! THAT thing don't look like no MOPAR I knew you had been lookin' for one of those, but didn't realize you had found one. Congrats on the score!!
That is a 55 super..i have a 55 roadmaster and it is identical exceptt for the moulding on the trunk lid... the roadmaster jus has 2 small trunk handles and the 'roadmaster' script.....also on the roadmaster the hood mascot, buick door emblems and rear script are 24ct gold plated, i believe that was a Roadmaster ONLY gimmick, as it was the most expensive in the buick range.. heres some pics of my 55 in my workshop.. sorry theyre a lil porr quality but should give you something else to compare it to. Buick Pics... ok better go make a note of my new username n password, been sooo long since i been in here i forgot mah damn old user...ha ha been havin too much fun in the garage... happy new yr all
Nice score and one you'll enjoy. Lots of things you can do to the '55 to customize it. Here's a pic of my '55 Special, which still has a few things needing to be done to her, but there's potential....... Oh, by the way....for the guys guarding Ryan's bandwidth - the pic above was hosted on another site, so it's on my nickel !

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I had to purge some of that useless E-Body trivia of mine to make room for Nailhead, FluiDrive and other GM Trivia. Hey...I'm workin' on it! I had no idea you were a member here, too. right on! That first '55 Super I mentioned was in Petaluma CA. A mutual friend of mine and it's owner told me it might be for sale. I got in touch with him and he didn't want to sell, despite having his first kid on the way, barely having a job, and no wrenching skill, tools or motivation. That's the car I mentioned where he tried to wax it with buffing compound (He didn't know) drove it a couple times and then parked it, exposed to the elements, when the brakes went out. He can't bring himself to part with it, though, despite a generous offer on our part when Lita decided that a '55 Buick was THE CAR for her. I told him my offer (Adjusted for depreciation) will always stand. The car we are buying (Payday is friday, sunday she comes home!) is a lot closer and a lot more solid. Joel's car WOULD be a killer primer & flamejob daily driver, though!
