While I'll agree that Graffiti is #1, my next favorite is "Hollywood Knights" Long live Newbaum Turk!
Am I right or ? But wasn't that '55 Chev in "American Graffiti" also used in "Two-lane Blacktop" and "Hollywood Knights"? If that is common knowledge, then call me duh. Is that original '55 still around? If that is common knowledge, then....
Check at walmart... Got a Special Edition one there for like 13.00... Really good deal for a really good movie!! My all-time favorite...
I don't believe the 55 was in Hollywood Knights, but I could be wrong. Seems to me I read an article a couple of years ago where one individual owns both the 32 & the 55 from Graffiti. for those looking for DVD copies, I suggest Amazon.com for a great source. I click on the "used" copies & get them for a song. I also purchased "Heart Like a Wheel", (the original) "Gone in 60 seconds", and a couple of others. "Two Lane Blacktop" is available in a collector's set, but a bit pricey @ $30+ dollars. You also can pick up a copy of "The California Kid" on DVD from Amazon. NO it's not recorded from TV, but a digitally remastered copy of the made for TV movie.
What a great movie! I watch it almost every weekend. I was into cars way before I saw American Graffiti but I would be lying if I told you it wasn't the movie that got me into '50's music. What a great movie.
Want to read the REAL American Grafitti stories...instead of some movie script...??? Order up my first two books -"Bangin' Gears & Bustin' Heads" and "Fast Cars, 4-speeds & Fistfights"...all about the days of cruisin' main, chasing girls, illegal street races, rat races, going to other towns looking for trouble and stupid things we did with a car way back in the early 1960's... R-
It was used in "Two-Lane Blacktop". Street Rodder did an article several years ago about the creation of that car. Basically, with the beast motor that was in the '55, in a real race with Milner's Deuce, it would have that Deuce for lunch.
The guy that owned (he may still) is (or was) a SF firefighter. He owned the original Deuce and had Brizio build an exact replica of the '55. I live near Petaluma, where the lion's share of filming was done for Graffiti.
