i have a 59 apache i was thinking going the cheap route to Lower it. When some of you guys flip the axle on top of the springs do you have to drill a hole in bottom of the axle for that spring pin to fit in. Is there any issues of axle cracking from putting a hole for the axle to sit over pins.

jus make some saddles for the bottom of the axles and then put bolts in from the top to a new plate at the bottom of the springs oh an you can get bottom plates from atwoods for 10 bucks already fabbed up but what i want to know is what happened to the clip you were going to do

If you're not fab inclined, the truck catalog places sell a flip kit that include Ubolts and new perches.

Search 3wLarry's posts. He flipped the front axle on his '56 truck, Franke. There should be some pics somewhere. You could try PMing him.

    ***EDITED TO ADD***
Luckily for me, a buddy in town just bought Franke from 3wLarry. I'll get to check out that front axle set up close and in person soon. I want to do the same on my '55. I'll get some pics, but it might be a few days.

I got a couple, but they ****. I'll see him (and the truck) again on Wednesday and get some better pics. It looks like a pretty straight forward project, although he has a V8. I'm not sure if the oil pan clearance is the same for an inline like I'm running. I want to get my stock truck next to his with the flipped front and get some direct comparisons and measurements. I'll post up my findings.
