ok so im starting on my new project its a 30-1 model A truck. Right now all i have is the cowl so my plan for it is to make a woodie out of it.After looking at dirtywoodies pics it got me inspired.my plans are to build the cab out of wood but do something i havent seen before and put the belt line around the cab just like it was a metal cab.the thing i need help on is i need some measurements for the doors and width of the cab in the back to get it close to original as i can.if someone with a 30-31 cab could post some measurements i would greatly appreciate it. Ill be posting pics soon of the build but first i need some measurements so i can get started on the cab.
The doors are about 28 1/2 inches wide. They are the same as a tudor sedan. The back of the cab at about the height of the bottom of the window is about 5 inches behind the door post. I took these measurements off of a AA truck quite some time ago. I also had a measurement for the spacing of the door posts but found out later it was off considerably, because the subframe had rusted badly and the door post moved outward as a result. This particular cab was very rusty, and the dimentions may be off due to it's rotten under structure. But they should be close. Hope this helps. But if you can find one locally I'd take as many measurements as possible from it. Good Luck!
Hang your doors, on the cowl, position your doorpost and measure. Build mine out of a Fordor. It turned out OK, but next time I´ll use doors from a Tudor instead, they are longer, and I could use some more legroom
