I just moved to Seattle Washington and thought this would be the place to ask if anyone might know of any hot rod shops and car shows to look for in the coming summer months any help would be appreciated .
Welcome to Seattle. You can go to this site and download the 2010 car show/swap meet schedule. Its near the bottom of the page. What part of Seattle are you living in? I'm in Ballard. http://www.actionautoparts.net/
Go to Hotrodarama in Tacoma at the beginning of August. Definitely the best show in the inland northwest. Billetproof is good too.
Three links just outside of Seattle: 1. MAXWELL'S METAL WORKS ( joe ) 1092 Ash Ave. Marysville , Wa. 98270 www.maxwellsmetalworks.com 2. Classic Coachworks 360- 509- 5661 3. J B's Upholstery ( Jeff ) 360-457-5304 port Angeles, wa -41-
Welcome! Hotrodarama is a great show, Monroe swap meet is coming up in May, Arlington dragstrip reunion in the fall is a good one too. Pick up an events calender, there is lots to choose from. Weather is starting to get nicer and the cars are starting to come out! Have fun, John
Welcome to the PNW. Usually the problem is deciding on which event to go to each weekend as there are usually several interesting ones. Cruzin magazine which is a PNW car nut rag (covers a bit of everything) has a schedule in it each month plus a lot of event coverage that will let you know what to expect at different events. The Run to Roslyn in Roslyn is a good laid back event with a bit of everything and usually a number of traditional rods and customs. Good food and brew in town too. The Roslyn-Cl Elum area is a good one just to go for a day trip from the Seattle area when the weather warms up a bit.
welcome from Seattle dude. I'm right by Greenlake off the N. 85th st exit. IMHO the best show ACTUALLY IN SEATTLE is the Greenwood carshow. Not a lot of traditionals...but cool none the less because they block off a main street(Greenwood ave) between 70th and 90th. It's a hell of a show. held in the end of june every year. XXX Drive In, which is in Issaquah has good shows all year. There really is a ton of stuff to do, you have to decide which one to go to. because you can't get to them all.... there are a lot of hot rod/old car shops too.
If you like roots / rock-a-billy music with your car show check out the "shake the shack" weekender at the Tracker Tavern in late September. Leon Burman puts it on and has a fri night show on KEXP radio. Car show on Sat afternoon as part of the show. GREAT music! Tell Leon, johnny from the "Blades" sent you!!
You can also get a booklet (2010 Northwest Car Events Calendar) from Upfront Images P.O.Box 75662 Seattle Wa. 98175 It is $4 plus $1.39 shipping and includes all events in Washington, Oregon and some in Idaho. www.upfrontimages.com
Lucky Sliver Tavern in Tacoma May 15th, good low key show and cold beer. http://www.myspace.com/luckysilvertavern
In 1952 I would have said: The Jack Conner Speed Shop Al Cooper's Speed Shop John Gorman Auto Repair Sid Mooring Speed Shop Dick Barber Auto Repair Logan Harter Auto Wrecking R&S Automotive Today I live 100 miles from Seattle and avoid going there like the plague. I know of several shops there that do hot rod work but they don't tolerate people hanging around to watch and BS. A sad state of affairs.
