well its about time I made a profile on here. my name is Nik and I just got a 1952 dodge pick up truck. my step father has owned this truck for about 4-5 years and he is one of those people who keep saying they are going to do something with a car and never dose. as soon as I found out he had this old truck I wanted it, I talked to him about it and he just kept saying " I don't wanna give it up because i'm gonna do somethin with it" (this was 4 years after it sat behind his dump truck shop) so I said " call me in a year when its still behind the shop un-touched) ha ha, so here it is 1 and 1/2 years later and I finally got it! I'm more than stoked! it came with completely sold body panels, repair manual, tail gait, fenders, cab has two small areas of rust, working electronics and every single part the truck came with except for the running boards, its got the old Flathead six which had a few stuck valves (now unstuck after much work last night) and the original starter/push ****on still works. I really want to keep the old 6 cyl but i'm not sure what to do? any ideas? if i decide to change engines what (if any) engines will bolt to the manual transmission? Sorry for the lengthy post! just trying to give as much detail as possible! thanks! heres the truck
I'm gonna make that ***** run tonite, come hell or high water....haha ..glad to see you finally made an account. You better keep it stock!!!! ok maybe a g***er
MANNNN I REALLY REALLY WANT IT TO BE STOCK! all the way down to the paint.. we gotta get this thing to sing tonight!
Nice truck! Gotta love the pilot house Dodge's. I've got a '53, pretty much the same thing except for the rear fenders. Good luck with it, and welcome!
It's good to see another Dodge truck being saved. Mine is a 52 but there isn't much left on it that hasn't been modified. Good luck and welcome.
Welcome from New Zealand. Those old Dodges are pretty cool. You may want to try to score some Fargo (as the trucks were called in Canada and over here) badges just to confuse the troops.
thanks everyone for the warm welcome! steve (dirtywoody28) and I got the starter all cleaned up and working properly and managed to get a good spark out of the distributor. I think we're going to pull the engine and clean it up so I can get all the new gaskets and whatnot replaced, then I would like to paint the engine back to the original color (blue right?) and clean up the engine bay/cab to paint. I think I just might look into those Fargo badges . Needless to say we're busting our ****s to get it together! really want to get this good ol truck running and driving with the quickness! I welcome any suggestions! thanks again everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dodge flathead 6 engines are really hard to kill. Back in the day, Plymouth and Dodge car owners often swapped in the Dodge truck engines. Don't know of any performance parts being made now, but back in the '50s and '60s some performance parts (cams, heads, manifolds) were made for that engine. Keep your eyes open at the swap meets and here on the HAMB.
