Just when you think there aren't any new finds around a yard pops up like this one. Guy has been saving cars for 31 years and has a neat yard. Even mows the grass! Lots of trucks and lots of GM. Everything is for sale, but at high prices. Picked up a hood for a 66 at 400 bucks which I thought was a lot of money but we needed it so you know how it goes. This yard is in upper NY just north of the Lebanon Race track. Got a couple of pics.
What did the hood fit ? I agree ratrodder34 on the price . That guy must watch too many Speed Channel auctions ! Still love to see a well kept salvage yard ! Retro Jim
I know that yard its about a mile from me , nice guy and lots of knowledge , not much tin left in the northeast between the rust and scrap drives , he knows it and charges accordingly
400???? for a hood whattayanuts???????????? even if it was the last hood in your state thats too high
Yah what he said -- you should'a waited four or five years looking for a cheaper hood as you drove around town with the rain on your engine !! Just kidding, those guys have no idea...........
Probably am a little nuts............however got this project that is being painted tomorrow (66 Impala) and no hood. It was the closest one we could find so we just grin and bear it for now. I guess the end justifies the means.
This is why they scrap them. They got it, you want it, buy it. Like any other business, lots of unseen overhead.
LOL, try buying a hood or any part that matter for say a 54 chev down in oz- looking at $500 as a start- thats why i pull wrecks from the bush. : )
$400.00 for a hood?!!!!!.......Damn , I just bought a complete '66 Impala, get this , at the Charlotte Auto Fair , running , factory 283 / powerglide , North Carolina car for $900.00!!! , that guy is just greasing for the sake of greasing , I understand the need for a good hood and the need to have it now , but , damn , that's just wrong to bust someone's ass like that...
