I've been on this site for about two years, but never got into posting, so here's a little about me. My father ran at el mirage and bonneville from 1953 to 1963. I grew up with a belly tank in the garage that he raced at the lakes. He later sold it and started building an airplanes. I always maintained my love of cars though and bolted quite a few together over the years. I am now getting into building things from scratch requiring more than the simple bolt together projects. My dad p***ed away in 1998 and a few years ago my brothers and I were looking through his stuff. We found an Albata car club plaque and I started searching for Albata on the internet, which led me to the land speed racing website. After talking with Richard Parks and Jim Miller, they really got me interested in finding more about my dad and his cars. At the present time Ernie Nagamatsu is restoring the Spurgin/Giovani/Borgh roadster, my dad being the Borgh. My dad purchased the car in 1953 racing the car at various drag strips as well as Bonneville and El Mirage. So I am kinda following in my fathers footsteps. I am currently building a 34 Ford 3 window coupe, with a potvin blown chrysler hemi. Also a 32 ford tudor sedan, "bonneville style" with a baby hemi, 6" chop, and recently purchased a 28 AV8 roadster. Really enjoy reading the forumns and reading about similar rods and interests. More to follow, I will post up some pics of my cars in progress and things I collect so keep an eye out for the threads. Thanks Kent
Welcome from New Zealand. Sounds like your dad was pretty cool. Look forward to seeing more of your wicked coupe!
Looking through some old posts and see that my photos are now the dreaded Red X. I also wondered if there are any new photos of your project cars.
