most likely the guy who bought it never picked it up , and the guy who still had it thought he was never going to pick it up ......... not everyone is as ambitious as us ! LOL
when most of us buy or find something we like , we hop right on it like a pitbull on a steak ......... hahahaha
hope you sort it out !

It was 9pm at night when this all went down. I had no way to get in touch with the seller. I only have his business number.

Sounds like the three of you need to get together and work it out. One of you isn't gonna be very happy though, I hope it isn't you.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with the seller and the previous buyer. I get my money back plus the much needed bench seat and the previous buyer gets his truck.

Seriously, I have never had anything like this happen before. If I was hell bent on the truck I would be pretty pissed. But like I said before I only wanted the seat and a few other odds and ends that the seller refused to sell. It was take the whole truck or nothing...

  7. Hope this all gets sorted out for you today. Good luck. I see that it did get sorted out. Better communication could have prevented the miss-understanding

at least you got what you really wanted out of the deal, your money back and dont have to mess with getting rid of a whole truck

Not to say this is what happened, but if you sold a car and it sat there on your property for 10 years (or pick a number) what would you do with it.
I've sold several cars that I stored for free for 2-10 years.

nothing I enjoy more than selling a car twice.

I have no sympathy for people who buy something with no way to get it home and nowhere to keep it.

I don't own a truck or a trailer, but I have never left a inoperable car more than overnight at the sellers place while I arrange something.

Yeah tell me about it. Like I said before after talking to this guy. He is in way over his head. On the upside I have some parts he wants to buy..So looks like a double score for me

  15. So funny to listen to all the keyboard warriors. Especially when they don't know the whole story. "I'd do this, or I'd do that", sure you would. Remember, every time you think you're the bad ass, there's another guy that is tougher than you, has more friends willing to back him up, or is just plain a better shot.

Sounds like the seller was either frustrated with the first buyer, even though it appears he had an agreement to keep the truck at his place, or he was just a dickhead. Either way the OP handled it right and got what he needed.

sounds like if he REALLY bought the truck he should have picked it up.... the guy was selling the truck to get rid of it ,NOT to store the truck.... his loss... what did happen?

I had 2 Model T Ford coupe bodies that I bought from a man in Lubbock, TX. I then had them stolen from me and about 3 months later I was looking around here on the HAMB and saw the two bodies for sale in the classifieds. Some guy in Austin had them. I am not saying the guy in Austin did anything wrong but someone did somewhere.
Another time I had a 36 buick grill hanging on my wall in my garage that disappeared. I found it later 300 miles away on a 37 dodge truck for sale on craigslist.

Around 8 yrs ago I painted some Harley parts for the meanest ugliest scariest looking biker you've ever seen. The only contact I had for him was at a local bar. I busted out the paint job in 1 week and when I went to deliver he was nowhere to be found, I sat on the parts for a couple years and then got an offer on em I couldnt refuse. I still lay awake at night waiting for this dude to show up for his parts.

I still don't understand how the truck got sold twice.

But the same shit happened to me. I bought a '65 Lincoln Continental out of someone's back yard, and found out later that it was being stored there for someone and the people who sold it to me never owned it. I got in contact with the owner and he was so happy to have it back he paid me what I paid for the car and I dropped it off at his house.

Worked out good in the end, although tracking down the actual owner was a pain in the ass. The police were no help at all, they said they couldn't tell me who the car belonged to even though I had license plates from it. Didn't matter that I explained to them that the car might have been stolen. They didn't care.
