heres something for the big brains of the HAMBS. i cant seem to find the 4 bolt 216 flywheel that im looking for so my question to you guys is if i can swap the cranks from a 39 216 and a 46 216 so that i can use the original 6 bolt flywheel without having any problems. in my eyes i dont see why this wouldnt work since they are both 216's. am i wrong? if i am please let me know before i get myself into something that might end up beign a complete waste of time. thanks

I don't understand the flywheel thing though. Both the 37 and the 42 were 6-bolt's....

no ive done some research and found out that in 1941 they changed to the 6 bolt. the previous years had the 4 bolt. also the heads change to a smaller plug for a few years before they go back to a bigger plug. this was told to me by a 70 year old timer that i use to work with at kragen that still works there. i havent had a chance to go back and ask him about the cranks. its crazy.

My 37' engine may have had a newer crank in it then. With that said, I may be full of it!

I think the small plug thing was around the 37' mark as well. I have one in my gargae from that same engine.

Chevy sixes had what we used to call "peanut plugs" up to/through about '48 on p***enger cars IIRC...............don't know about the trucks......but why not them too??
