I have a set of 15" 1953 Merc riveted rims. I have a set of Goodyear super cushions to go on them. I also have a set of tubes and stems.(from kelesy tire)

Do I need a liner over the rivets ?
( anywhere you recommend that sells em? My local couldn't get them)

will electrical tape work if I can't find a liner? It's not a "fiborous" type tape.

    Thanks

Ive never run a liner on any of my cars with riveted wheels and I've never had a problem. As long as there are no sharp spots you'll be fine.

Liners are usually used with older wire rims. And as Thunderbirdesq wrote, make sure there are no sharp edges or metal things sticking up and you'll be fine.
I always do a though inspection on the inner rim before I have a tire installed.

My '51 Pontiac has riveted rims, and I'm running tubless radials. The guys at Discount Tire freaked out, but they don't leak!

Please don't run riveted rims-----my pal stuffed his roadster into a guardrail due to some being rusty and they snapped.Everyone should true the wheels and at least tack 'em. I am a very traditional car guy but some stuff is just flat out dangerous.
