I'm looking at purchasing a Fleetline long distance and am wondering what the general experience has been for others. My biggest issues have been verifying good ***le, transfering cash/check at the same time as getting the car and verifying condition.

I had someone look at the car for me, but didn't use an appraiser. The distance is too great to just take a trailer and pick it up in person. I'll likely have it shipped, but there's no one to escrow the funds until the car is delivered and then make sure the seller gets his money

Anyone else have these issues? How did you deal with them? Is there a service out there that does this sort of thing? Would any HAMB'rs be interested in a service like this if there was a reliable, above board business offering one?

    Thanks,
    Kurt

I just sold a car to guy in Australia. I sent him photos, he liked what he saw, we discussed price via email. He sent me a heafty deposit via a wire transfer from his bank to mine. I then emailed him a copy of the ***le and bill of sale. He then wire transfered the balance into my account including the wire tranfer fees ($25 each time) that I was charged. He hired a transporter and a couple weeks later his transporter came and picked up the car. I gave the transport guy the original ***le and original bill of sale. Could not have been easier.

  4. Sounds like you want to 'kick the tires'

Hard to do from hundreds or thousands of miles away ;)

Trust seems to be your issue to overcome

I transport, but there is no way I would ever act as as agent
for the Buyer or the Seller ....

I would not be the courier for money or ***le

Either you trust the person you are working with
    or your don't ....

If you have to kick the tires then do it in person

Nothing like a good road trip :D

If your buying from a HAMBer you'll be fine, done it twice. First one I met the seller half way and the second time had it shipped. Both great experiences.

    Thanks Del and Doug
