Hi everyone, my name is Sabrina, "Brie" for short. I'm 60, and retired Army. I am a current and active pilot, one of my planes is a restored 1940 Taylorcraft BC-65, hence the screen name. I used to race short track stock cars that I built and maintained myself. I also design, build, and fly ultralight, and experimental aircraft. I recently acquired a 1959 F-100 styleside Custom Cab that is all there. It has a four speed floor shifted ******, and a 292 engine. I want to make it look like an early sixties era hot rod, building the 292 up to where it will p*** for a 312 Special out of a Thunder Bird. It will have big rig stacks running up the back corners of the cab, a wood floor in the bed, discs front and rear, rack and pinion steering, bucket seats, and a Diamond Tuck interior. It will be the stock "Sea Foam Green paint, with phantom flames that change from metalflake silver in the front, to a slightly lighter metallic silver-green to the rear of the flames. I will start the frame up restoration the beginning of this summer. Brie
Welcome from New Zealand. Look forward to seeing pics of the plane and the pick-em-up. I live just down the road from the local Warbirds Society and get an impromptu airshow just about every weekend.
Welcome Brie. Your F-100 project sounds like a cool one and you can easily find Y-block help here on the HAMB.
THANKS Goober, I just might need it. I can work on the 289, 302, 351W, 351C, 390, and 460 in my sleep, but have never had a 292-312 apart. I hear that they suffer from a rocker shaft/arm oil starvaton problem, is that true? Can it be fixed? Brie
Welcome Brie! Lived in Texas my whole life (and all of my family for generations back) and I have no idea where Salt Flats is lol. Truck sounds like alot of fun though. Welcome to the nut-hatch. I'll warn you that it's VERY addictive!
I would have NOOO problem in loading them IF I had them loaded into this brand new notebook. I already made the Album, (empty), I'll pull them out of my laptop tomorrow, and load all the photos into this notebook, and then load a few of them up into the Album tomorrow. Brie
Dirty John, It is on HWY 62-180, the two lane between El Paso, Tx., and Carlsbad, N.M. in Hudspeth County. I have a long thin 80 acres with my own 4,700 foot airstrip. If I walk out the west door of the Bedroom, it opens into the back one of the "T" hangers. Brie
That sounds like heaven to me Brie! I bet you don't have alot of problems with neighbors out your way. When I worked at Ft.Hood I met an ex pilot for the Army you may have heard of, Col. Sterling Hayes (ret). Sterling is a character, but his friend Brig Gen. Ben Fithian (ret) is an absolute nut lol. You can actually google Ben pretty easily. He was the first person to shoot a plane down using radar. He accomplished that during the Korean war. I'm rambling I know, but thought you may know these fellas.
I have met Sterling, What do you think of my Avitar? I loaded it into my notebook by going to my Yahoo profile, and saving the Avitar into my notebook. The Album photos will be loaded sometime tomorrow. My closest neighbor is two miles away. Brie
Looks good Brie. I'm so jealous of you lol! 2 miles away and own runway as well!?! Now that's living!
