so I did a search and did not yield any needed results...

I have a 54 chevy post car that I reacently picked up a sweet set of 53 pontiac side beltline trim for, you know that skinny swoopy piece that goes under the rear quarter window.

so my question is what do most people do to mount them?

there are no obvious holes for trim clips or anything.

I know that I can make something work but I want to know if there is a correct way to do it that does not require me drilling holes in the side of my 54?

I know one of you guys have done one of these before!

    enlighten a brother!!!

    thanks:D

The original nelt line trim mouldings are held on with "T-clips", a metal piece that fits into the moulding with a threaded stem that goes thru the body and has a nut on the backside. While it may be possible to mount the trim by using some sort of adhesive tape, given the depth of the moulding, that would have to be some pretty thick tape of muitple layers of thinner tape.

If your car already has beltline mouldings, there must be holes in the body along the beltline. The only problem I see with that is if the Pontiac beltline mouldings mount lower or higher than the original Chevy pieces. Otherwise, you should be able to remove the stock mouldings and use the same holes to mount the Poncho's.

There is an article in Feb. 2010(?) Street Rodder about a green Five Four owned by a guy named Jake Moomey that has '54 Pontiac belt line. If there is some way to get a hold of him or mag, maybe they can tell you.

Here's a couple pics of how it fits on my 53 pontiac.

I was told by my friend that owns this car that the Pontiac trim fits over the stock Chevy trim but don't know if that's true or how it attaches.

If you search for 49-54 pontiac beltline trim on eBay there are universal plasitc clips that work well but you do have to drill a hole for each clip.

thanks 13fox, that is what I was wondering.

I know that the belt line trim goes on with t-clips but I just didn't see where as there were no holes behind where the blt line trim goes underneath the quarter windows.

the rest of the way around the car has the trim held on with the t-clips?

I guess that the quarter window belt line is different?

thanks for the responses guys (and gals)
