    Hey All,

Have my 34 sitting in the garage and need all the info I can get on it. It seems pretty well intact except for the roof/headliner, and interior trim.

For now I just want to get the roof done up, clean it up, and get it running. The brake pedal is rock solid, as in, doesn't move, but the parking brake works well. Engine turns over by hand, but I have yet to fire it up. I want to know as much about the 34 as I can before I get too far ahead of myself.

I have a degree in electronics, have been through a couple engine and manual transmission builds, a lot of auto tranny shift kits, rebuilt 10 bolt rears, and some V8 (94+ LT1) swaps in S-10s and a jeep. I just want to know as much as I can before even putting a jack under this machine, my last project got away from me and I want to take a more disciplined approach.

    Sorry for the novel.

Does anyone have any information on the roof and headliners? As in materials / R&R? I've got a 4 door Standard and know the basics thanks to the web, but I am still missing a lot of how to information.. Going to order a service manual and parts locator as soon as I get some priorities out of the way. (anyone have any parts sources?)

    Thanks in advance!

Dad has a 34 master 4 door and i know hes gotten some parts from I & I Reproduction so ya might check them out. Good luck with your project

  3. The Filling Station has some parts. That looks like a nice start. How's the wood in it?
    I'm working on a '34 truck myself.

Oh, and welcome to the HAMB.

I thought those tail lights were found only on the 35 Standard model. 34 had the stand off of the fender. As for the top insert mine had "chicken wire" over the slats then a canvas type material then a heavy batting material then the outer covering.
Lots of accessories on that one. deluxe bumper guards , extra tailight, second wiper. I'd like to see the dash.

Thanks everyone, I really do appreciate it. I honestly haven't done anything to it. My last project consisted of getting a 89 s10 ext cab running good and it ended up with a LT4 running 13.3s in the 1/4. :) I want to take my time with this and do it right. I haven't even gotten a chance to get some work clothes on and poke around it, not one screw or bolt has been touched at this point. I want to know if I have to grind or break something that I have a replacement waiting..

The dash is the standard from the "research" I've done, gauges are in the middle of the dash, 100 mph speedo, gas, alt, oil, and temp, no glove box. The surround on the gauges has faux woodgrain paint that's peeling.

*EDIT* the floor seems to be ok, the roof is peeling back from the front to the rear, it doesn't look stock, I'll get some pics of it. It looks like the original wood frame w/ some window screen on top of it, then some heavy cotton batting, and what looks like tarred cloth on top? I'll try to post some pics tonight if I get time.

Thanks for the heads up on the companies, I'll be searching for them today. :D

  8. How Odd. my 34 Standard has a bolt on gas tank cover and taillights on the fenders. I've been told by many no seperate tank cover is 35. My origonal Title also says 34 standard. I've learned everything you may need is out there but it all needs a little help before you can bolt it on. That said, the one I'm building is a long ways from stock due to that. Sure hope your Wood is solid. Once you start fixing on it, it never stops.
    Good luck

Your car is a 1935 not a 1934. The 34 4 door did have a separate tank panel and a 35 like yours did not.

The wheelbase of a 35 Standard is 107".
Check the firewall tag for EC series, and model number 351209A.
    That will clinch it.

I've never seen the word deluxe used for Chevies of these years. Just Master and Standard also Eagle(33). For 34 there were a few major differences as in the front knee action suspension and the longer sheet metal to the Master front end. In 35 the differences between the standard and master were huge as inbasically a different car for the master. The 35 Master looked like a 36 with a lankier looking 34-35 grill on it.

I got, at one time at least, running board mats for my 35Std and my 34Master from I&I reproductions. George Ikari.

  20. My mistake. It was indeed Master . Bigger brakes, bigger schockers, just a more solid car compared to the standard.

LMAO!! Going to go check my grille for rubs / dents :D

Thank you all so much for the information and links. I'm honestly used to working on 89+ vehicles and have been spoiled w/ all the info out there. I was at a complete loss on this 35 (need to change title..) and couldn't find anything through searching besides viruses and truck parts.

Here's the dash (I was wrong about the temp, thought I saw a temp sender but I think it's the vac for the wipers):

    In '35 Chevrolet were;
    STANDARD SERIES EC
    MASTER DELUXE SERIES ED/EA

I think there's something amiss on that dash. Looks like peeling wallpaper? I don't think that's original. There should be a water temp.

Thanks for the pics of the master. Even though I have a 4 door, the wheel base looks to be about the same. Your hood looks longer that what I have.

You are the man! Body Style: 35-1209A

Just got all the numbers off the truck, some of them I'm not too sure of, going to be digging some stuff up today. I'm also going to check all the websites out posted above and stock up my new Favorites folder. :D

Anyone know a site for paint codes? Hood is showing some blue but the car is black. Someone brushed it..

The paint code on the cowl tag is either 184 or 134..

I would pull the oil pan and clean it out before attempting to start the motor. If the oil was completely filthy when the motor was last ran, the impurities settle out over time, leaving the oil on top clear. In many cases where it is likely the motor hasn't been ran for many years I have found an inch or more of sludge congealed in the bottom of the oil pan, even to the point of clogging the oil pump pickup screen.

Thank you for info, I will definitely pull the pan. That gives me the great excuse to pull the pan and check this sucker out. Been dying to check out the dippers on the rod bearings, awesome idea, but will also stick out in my mind as the rpms rise..

Guess that also will lead me to get a service manual, figure I can check the clearances on the crank while it's open.. also need to figure out what weight oil and all the other good specs.. Getting into this car is almost like starting over, but I'm loving learning all the small details! Found out I have to purchase a Group 1 battery! Group 1! I know it's stupid to get excited over something so trivial, but we're holding on to history here! I stumbled across the BCI history while trying to figure out what battery I needed to get.
