Hey guys........KKOA is bringing the Leadsled Spectacular Back to Kansas this summer....... it's in July actually..... and the show is being held in Salina, KS, about 90 miles north of Wichita........I know there are a lot of conflicting thoughts about KKOA, but they are trying to organize a cruise from Wichita to Salina......and they are trying to find some decent bands for the show this year as well....... I have been contacted by them and they are really trying to reach the 'younger' crowd....... but they don't know how........I thought if some of the HAMBer's here would care to think on it a bit and give the KKOA a shout, an email or a phone call with suggestions, that might be a good thing......It's really rare to get an opportunity to go to a good gr***roots kind of show here in the midwest, and this might be a great chance to actually make a difference for a show.......I am really unprepared to be writing this post, as I don't have an email address or a website, for you.......... but I know they have one.....here's yer chance, let us see what happens.....
They gonna have it at the BiCentennial(Sp) Center? That would be cool, saw my first concert there, KISS. Are they looking for names of bands from the area. There is a pretty damn good band out of Lincoln or Omaha, The Mezcal Brothers, lead singer looks like a latin elvis. Farmall
Hmmmm, I wonder if the Poison Okies would be interested. I'll ask and get back witcha. You still ****!
Cool, thats only about an hour north for me. I'll keep my eyes and ears open and try and make it. Thanks for the heads up!
Sounds like a good time. KKOA webpage "25th Anniversary of the LEADSLED SPECTACULAR & Nostalgia Vendor Fest, in Salina, Kansas-July 29-31 We're even making the trip getting there a spectacular site w/25 miles of kustoms coming from all four directions." I am about 20 miles from Salina. Looking forward to it! Maybe have a HAMB cookout at my pad.
If they really wanna know...they shoulda listened to Mickey. All that said, I am glad to hear that it's back.
I'm sure Jerry has listened to Mick...that's probably one of the reasons it's back in Kansas...that's probably one of the reasons he wants "younger" guys there...us old farts are simply getting older...there will be a lot of ColoRODo guys that will make the trip. R-
[ QUOTE ] You old farts are my heroes..... [/ QUOTE ] And you "young" guys are what's going to be keeping the sport alive when we're all gone!!! See YOU in Kansas, Root? R-
Hey Dennis, I already have my room waiting on me and cannot wait to kruise up to Salina. I had a blast five years ago when it was in Wichita and could not believe the turnout. If you guys are really into Kustoms, you will not be disappointed in the Spectacular. Checkout the KKOA Pics at the 20th http://www.carnut.org/show/00/kkoa/_kkoam1.html I agree with Root, old farts are Heros. Happy Trails, Mick

This old fart has made reservations at Salina. All of us both young and old need to support these shows in our area. Cause if we don't, sooner (Go Sooners) or later we won't have them. Besides, this sounds like a great weekend.
come on guys lets make a big showing. I'm taking a hot rod and a kustom . who all wants to cruz up together?
I got the last non-smoking room! There are only 3 smoking rooms left for the host motel! get your plastic out folks and make the call! 785-827-0356 she wouldn't give me the names of the other hotels nearby hmmph.
[ QUOTE ] ...there will be a lot of ColoRODo guys that will make the trip. R- [/ QUOTE ] Oh yea! MapQuest says its only 434 miles and 6 1/2 hours from my house. Not too bad a drive!
I just recieved a gift certificate/membership, for the KKOA. As much as I'd like to attend my schedule is already set for the year. As I understand, the KKOA used to have a show in Shelbyville TN. I urge the TN Hambers to write to Jerry ***us,and make a request to re-instate that show in thier lineup. The midwest is well represented, and the Deep south(KY, TN, AL,GA,LA),has just as many potiential members. Thanks, Sparky
[ QUOTE ] So what year cars can enter?? [/ QUOTE ] From the KKOA "join our organization" page in the mag: "We are chopped and channeled leadsleds, mild to wild 50's and 60's model street kustoms, nostalgic/traditional Fad-T to '48 syle hot rods, experimental hand-built customs and all 1972-2005 NCC (new concept customs)cars and trucks." So, just about anything is welcome, but most of it is tail dragging sleds and sixties style kustoms. R-
its gonna be a killer time in kansas!!!! the best of everything will be here, sleds, kustoms, rat rods, bubble tops???? no tops! hell yeah, on cars too!! so dont miss this event!!!
