All the play is in the box, the wheels dosnt move up and down What is the sector gear? The Y block is staying for sure, my grandpa also gave me a fresh 312 he had completely rebuilt a few years back, just going to run this one till it dies
welcome to the flock...I have a 55 f100 as well Dual quads on a Y block...that'd be awesome nice looking truck, what rear end are you running? original dana or something else? I swapped out the dana for a 9 inch out of an early 70's mustang and mounted it on top of the springs, resulting in an an approximate 5 inches of drop...I didn't notch the frame, was planning on it but haven't gotten around to it yet, although I haven't had any problems with it with no notching another good info source http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum41/
Quote,,All the play is in the box, the wheels dosnt move up and down What is the sector gear? I feel at this time my best advice is to send you to your local Library to read in a Motors repair manual how to do this or find a local alighnment shop that might be able to help out. You need to fully understand what your doing or you could end up "Fixing" it worse than it it is now. The Wizzard
Fatbob309, the truck was going to go up for sale (too many projects and short on funds) but my Girlfriend encouraged me to get back to work on it because she knows it makes me happy! Parker, keep the updates comming we all need motivation.
haha! she sounds like my wife! My Wife reckons when I've been a few days without driving our '53 I get all cranky and suffer "withdrawls" ! Old F100's are like an old favourite pair of jeans ... slip in and you are comfy right away!
I think you'll find that after the axle flip, that the rear end (center, where the pumpkin is) now bottoms out on the floor in the bed. You could build a little doghouse for that area. I wanted to keep a flat floor, so I raised the whole floor. Yes, notch the frame.
Welcome from one FNG to another, your truck looks solid & an easy project. Mine on the other hand needed every patch panel made thanks to our New England weather. I like the looks of steelies to.
