Well it's taken almost exactly 10 years for me to get this far with my coupe but when I look at these pics I know it was worth my patience. I was 21 when I dragged the body out of a guy's barn and brought it home in a U-Haul box truck. Since then I graduated college, got married, started my career, moved 4 times and everything else that goes along with the insanity of being young(er). Through it all I was determined to hang on to my model A. I had a lot of people tell me that I'd have to part with it when this or that happened. Well I watched a lot of those same people give up on their dreams and I just learned from them. Hahaha! That said, I certainly would not have finished the car if it had not been for the guiding hand of my father and the patience of my mom and wife. And of course all the good people on the HAMB that shared their knowledge with me. Like every hot rod build, there is so much more that could be said but I know on this site at least, the majority of you understand the incredible emotions and experiences that go in to building a car start to finish and turning every bolt yourself. The car will be on the road in a couple weeks. I have a few loose ends to tie up. Thanks again everyone. Pics speak a thousand words... First a vid of it running. It's a '69 400 inch Pontiac. Isky Mega cam.
The first two pics look like the 10 years was really hard on you!! Looks good man... I'm right on your heals with my coupe project!!!
I congratulate you as much for getting a good education as getting your A on the road...2 jobs well done.............
Congratulations on your hard work and seeing the finish line, at least in sight. Maybe getting the car up and running isn't as important as working on the car with your Dad and all that you learn in the process. Good Luck
Haha!!! And yes the memories I have of the time I spent with my dad on our hotrods (he has '28 chevy rpu) is the most important part of the experience. I will never take that for granted. It's the journey not the destination right??
Thanks for sharing! I think your priorities were in the right order. Now load up that Bride and go for another honeymoon in the Model A!
congrats, looking good! we share a very similar build history... college, career, wife, etc... a supportive wife makes it easier to get to the finish line.
Congratulations man! looks awesome I am in the same boat as you were a few years ago with my 30' coupe and school and son on the way.
Thanks everyone. It's been a long haul but so worth it. A lot of inspiration has come from this site.
Looks Great... Nothing will ever compare to that first build and first time you started it up. Hang on to it and never sell it, 30 years from now you will be glad you did.
Yeah I plan to hang on to it. Ya never know though, if the right deal came along ... like a straight axle 55 chevy... mmmmmm.
