I've been kinda quiet on the Showdown this year, so I thought I would do a post on the super secret project I had made up for the show, poster/shirt art and general show reminders. I did a post a while back about looking for Hot Wheels for the show...after a LOT of searching I found them! We will have 100 of the 34 Ford and 300 of the panel truck. They will only be available at the show (and a HAMB auction) IF there are any left over I will then offer them for sale here.

Curt Six here on the HAMB has outdone himself again this year with the art for the Hot Wheels card, poster art...everything! and even a little early this year...well, almost early!!
Here is the poster, and I liked it so much the shirt front is the same.

I like the image of the cars a lot, but I really like it is from a poster I found from a fairly local track. We really based our poster on the layout of the one I found. Globe Poster Company has always printed our posters. I like that they have been printing them since wayyy back the old fashion way. Kind of a poster printing icon. They like the style of what we do so much that they have invited us to use their old posters as the base for the Showdown and Showdown Drag posters for a long time. I have not had the chance to get there to pick them out, but Curt says there a lots of real cool designs we can incorporate.

Show stuff: the new restrooms will not be finished, permits and weather screwed us...next year. Sorry girls. :( Lots of cool new stuff in the museum. The metal shapers will be in their usual spot, be sure to bend some stuff with them. We've decided starting NEXT year we will pre-register all swap space vendors. As everyone knows, space is an issue and it will help to pin down how many vendors we will have for sure. MAY eventually lead to all pre-registration for the infield. Weather permitting, we will have more camping spaces back around turns one & two. I'm going to try to keep that area a "quiet" camping area. It's nice with a lot of trees. We will be watching track time a lot closer this year. Gotta go easy on the speed, and spin outs in the mud. Both will get you ******ed off the track. The speed is obvious, spin outs kill time and the track time line is long. Oh, and if you spin out, YOU will be the one to have to get out and hook your car to pull it out. Why should we have to get muddy?? :) Everyone knows my Friday night camping speech, quiet after midnight...drunken bad*** wannabes WILL be removed, clean up after yourselves (always amazed how good everyone does), cars out of the creek. That's all I can think of now. See everyone soon!!

    Those are cool!
The "Hauler" has some pretty cool wheels on it...I just remember Hot Wheels red lines, and the ugly Matchbox wheels and tires...;)

    We'll be there Friday...

Awesome! I'm stoked for my first Jalopy Showdown!

My pregnant wife has the bladder of a small child so I guess she'll have to deal with whatever bathroom amenities there are.

"Hook up your own car if you want it towed", and "cars out of the creek" -- only the Showdown can bring you this. I'm stoked.

Yeah, we'll have to see. I might try to find a motel for friday and Saturday. The real test is going to be every 45 mins at the show. I'm sure she'll tuff it out and use the porta john. Maybe she can wear depends.

She could just go to the museum and use the nice clean bathroom. There is a shuttle bus or the Rocket or she could just walk or drive right to it, it is right there on the same property with the track. Larry puts this show on to support the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing so make sure you find time to check it out.

Friday night the porta johns will be alright but Saturday night you may need a clothes pin for the nose. Unless she's standing all day Depends ****, your *** will be wet.

The show poster looks great as always. I happened to also buy an original version of this poster of mason dixon speedway and immediately thought the art would be great for the next showdown poster.

I'm glad someone here got the other. I tried to buy it when I was at the guys place and he wanted to "hold onto one"...for about a week when he listed it on ebay! Good deal.

A few new things this year. We are really going to try to lessen the wait for track time. The plan is, once you take your car to the infield, it MUST stay there until you are ready to leave for the day. This will eliminate a LOT of down time crossing the track. When you leave the infield we will mark you window sticker and thats it for the day. We have asked the kitchen and Lions Club volunteers to park at the museum and car pool to help with the same issue. The museum bus will still be picking up just outside the gate...same reason. Also if you speed, spin out or get stuck in the mud you will also probably be finished on the track. Follow our flaggers directions! Also if you get stuck YOU WILL get out of the car and hook the chain up. We’re just not that interested in getting muddy for your screw up/time killer! We will also be monitoring the track time line for alcohol in the car, driver or p***enger! Insurance is just killing us, please understand our situation. All this is really an effort to make the experience better and safer for YOU.
    See ya soon! “Scary” Larry
