my brother has a bone stock 39 Dodge w/a flathead 6 & its run'n a single stromberg carb on it. how can i find out what kind it is (cause i dont remember seeing any ###'s on it) and WHERE can i find a rebuild kit for it. hell i had to make the top gasket for it 3yrs ago & its worked so far, but he wants to have one on hand just in case i have to take it apart again.....thanks....joe
If it's the stock carb, it should be a 1 bbl. Check the throttle body. It should have the numbers cast there (something like bxves, bxvd, bxv and a number, or something along those lines). For kits & parts, call Larry Isgro at (516)783-1041. He can hook you up with parts for all sorts of oddball carbs. His prices are hard to beat, too.
[ QUOTE ] I got kits for my 6 97's right at NAPA for $19.00 a piece. [/ QUOTE ] that would be nice but EVERY parts store around here including NAPA says that it doesnt show a stromberg carb for his car, go figger. BUT first i need to find out WTF kind of stromberg it is first...thanks again..joe
I agree with Dago Red!!! I searched high and low for my carb kit (Stromberg BXVD-3 off my 49 Dodge) and was luck to get Larry's information from a HAMB member. I later found another company with the kit that I needed but they wanted $30 more than what Larry charged! He is very polite and knowledgeable too!
