I have a car Im looking to sell on another site. I had a potential buyer for it but his terms to me sounded a bit off.

Here's what he proposed. He send me 1/2 of the payment in any form I wanted. upon receiving payment I was to send him the ***le SIGNED upon which he would send the other half. total price of car is 12G's.

man to me this dont sound right. I tried to offer several other options including a photo copy of the ***le on today's paper. no dice.

This is my only way to be able to afford to build a new hotrod. I would need to sell this one but this sounded funny.I figured he maybe legit but it could be a deal where he could claim my car with a signed ver ***le and be legal about it. far fetched I know but the way people are today...

    what do you guys think???

Maybe he might go for an escrow service? here is a link Ebay Escrow Services And Info
Scroll to the bottom for a few legit companies that offer this. Other than that I would be very leary of the whole deal.

It's your car, sell it on your terms.

Get all the money first, then send him the ***le.

Tell him,1/2 down then the rest when the car is picked up,then send the notarized ***le with who ever picks it up. Or you could mail the ***le when you are paid in full. YOU CONTROL THE SALE.

I'll just agree with the others, it is your car and you controll the terms of sale, 50/50 and ***le when the money is all yours.

    Don't do it man!
Here is the deal,he has not seen the car in person right?
When he gets the car and finds something or another wrong with it guess what happens next.....
"I'm going to deduct for blah blah blah" and theres nothing you can do about it.
Remember,he has the ***le signed over by you to him.
Think you can try and get the car back?
Dude you are screwed by then.
Listen to the guys above, its your car.

Tell him to bring his *** and look at the car [IMG]and then do the deal,we are talking $12,000 right?

I would NEVER give up the ***le or Car without full payment.

You don't get to leave the Grocery Store with all of the food and only pay 1/2 !

    Where is this buyer located?
Most scams lately seem to involve bogus cashiers checks, and offshore buyers with purchase agents.

Since he's offered to send the money in any form you want,it might be legit,
    but still smells funny.
Once you've signed over the ownership, how do you prove he never paid the balance ?

Large deposit up front, balance upon delivery sounds like a better idea.

I dont think he was a Nigerian type scammer. I think he just wanted a car for 1/2 price. I wasnt comfortable with it at all...

  14. brother, that does indeed sound fishy..

i sold one of our Austin panel trucks on a site recently, and i got me a buyer.. thought it was all sweet until he was wanting to pay me like double the asking price, and i was to deduct the, price and return the rest of the cash to himm.. i was all WTF... he was tryn real hard to force me to do this but i jus told him its my way or not at all..

turns out theres aome other scam where's they send ya extra cash for shipping or some ****, and blag you never paid or sent em the extra $$$ back...or that that they never got the car...
it was hilarious, i got frickin email after email after email offa this guy with threats...givin me the whole "i got yer address" biz, "see what i'm gonna do"...
so i mailed him a nice 8x10 photo of me in my colors at the last 81 meet..jus so he knows it me when he comes knockin on my door.. never heard diddly after that..

found a buyer real soon afyter, ALL WENT SWEET!!! if they want they car, theyll go your route to get it..
