Well, I finally got to drive it today. I've been working on it since October, that seems like a long time, but it's been off the road since 1986......or at least that was the newest sticker on the tag when I bought it. There were quite a few things that needed repaired and replaced, it now has a new gas tank and lines,... new disc brakes (dirty word, I know) and lines, new alternator (dirty word, I know), new starter, rebuilt carbureter and distributor, I repaired the wiring under the hood and dash. There's still some bugs to work out I'm sure, but that's what you get when you play with old cars.

Unfortunatley, it's still pretty ugly, but I can live with that until next winter.......right now it's time to have some fun with it.

I'll get some decent outdoor pictures of it soon.

By the way, does anyone recognize this interior, the buckets and console I mean ??
It's not the best photo, but it's all I have at the moment.

Last year I felt like a drowned rat most of the week, then on the way home we stopped in Murdo, and had 2 tornado's bearing down on town from different directions. The radar picture was starting to form a fricken skull, I told Chad if that thing develops crossbones under it, we're gettin' the hell outta here.

    Thanks

looks good Chris, and will be even better when you get the sidepipes bolted on again.

I'm not sure about the buckets, but the console is from '70-'72 Monte Carlo. Similar to a Chevelle but with the woodgrain on top.

    Bingo, thanks

Not bad, I had a leak at the waterneck on the intake, and I must not have the brakes bled completely, but it shifts like it ought to, and seems to run pretty decent. I didn't go far from my shop, or get on it too hard, but it's a start....

Bob, the sidepipes are not going back on, but I do have them saved for ya....

Got my brakes better, they still need some bleeding, but at least it stops when I step on them.
Fixed the leak, I had to drill, tap and put a steel insert in the intake. Installed some seat belts.....
and left my Avalanche at the shop tonight and drove the 55 to the house......priceless........

Huge improvement, those old wheels & side pipes were awful.

Amen to that and at one time I thought those side pipes were pretty cool. Now it is starting to look like a hot 55 Chevy.

Very nice, and the side pipe removal was a big improvement.

If there's no "custom" bodywork, it's not too hard to make a "good looking 55" out of an ugly one.........:)

I got the rest of the seat belts in today, and took my 5 year old boy for a ride. We wound up the 327 a little, and he now likes the chevy alot better than the buick.....I like where his priorities are at....:)

Well, it's started......I was out for a little drive earlier, when a bullhauler (livestock semi truck) layed on his horn , slammed on his brakes and flew out of his truck trying to buy my car.....those guys rarely even stop to pee.....I politely told him it wasn't for sale, and he probably couldn't afford to change my mind......
