Came across a 1962 Galaxie 4 door and just had to have it. Always loved these cars and just couldn't resist, really need something to haul the kids. Guy had it on C.L. in my area and had a few guys wanting it, but they all wanted to use it in the local demolition derby at the county fair. I had to promise I wasn't one of those guys, after convincing him I wasn't he gave me a smokin' deal....

brought it home at 2pm, me and my 3y/o son power washed and vacuumed it, than tore out all the rotted carpet ( he loves tearing things up). Done by 5:30.....

Next; change all the fluids, clean the tank, new battery and she should run..... cross my fingers...

Plan is to keep it very low budget (of course) interior is biggest problem; needs it all, thank goodness that is something I can do..

than drop it, primer (for now) one solid color, and flake the roof... maybe some pinner whites or bigger whites ( again $$$)... wish me luck and will keep you posted...

    I smell a stock car!

  3. I like the white roof myself..is the paint totally dead? Try to polish up whats left and leave it that way..primer (gray) would make it look like a block of clay going down the road.

You have a good car there. Leave the trim on it too.;)

Desertratrodder... was thinking maybe a tinted primer... paint is dead, pretty bad surface rust on rear quarters.. i do like the trim, but have seen some nice kustoms without so i am going back and forth on that... what was also kool on this purchase was all the original dealership paperwork and owners manual..

Deuces,,,,,3 holley's would be nice, and some chrome covers would add some sparkle to the engine, but that engine bay needs alot more than that.... it us frikin ug-a-lee. But Dad always taught me... if it aint broke dont" fix it....sooooo gonna put my money into other places for now... of course, unless I come across a smokin deal on a set up of carbs & manifold....ha...

    Thanks

He IS an amazing kid, ... great bonding experience doing this project with him...

Funny thing is he knows how to work a phillips screw driver, so he keeps coming up with all these screws from the interior compartment... just a little more work for Daddy...

I have a 62 Mercury Monterey which is basically a Galaxie. I would say call or go online and order a Macs Auto Parts and a Obsolete Ford Parts catalog. There free and there's lots of parts that are hard to find that they sell. I think some Supremes and pinner whites would look good. I put them on my car and it set it off. By the way, cool car. Keep us updated.

So ... Fuel tank was dry, added new fuel and two new fuel filters.. new battery, drained radiator and added water/freeze... turned the key and she turned over,, but nothing else... found an old fuel line kinked and brittle.. so changed that.. still nothing.. she tries to run with starting fluid, that's all.... removed the line at the carb.... dry as a bone.. turned the car over and over and over and over. ..( you get the picture..) nothing.. so I am diagnosing it as a bad fuel pump... new one coming today at 10a... wish me luck

  19. You should sell me the front sheet metal, and just stick a '32 grill shell out in front of the radiator.:D

Thanks, man.... It is now owned by RAZINCAIN (Mark).
I had 15x7 wheels from Rally America on it --- Ford centers w/ a new 7" wide rim. 4-1/4" backspacing, from what I recall. 225/70r15 tires all the way around. They were from Diamondback Cl***ics.

  25. Nice car, love the 62's. Learn how to repair aluminum trim because outside headlight rings for 62's are like GOLD!

    Good luck with the car!

Well after fighting with the new fuel pump for about 45 mins I finally was ready to give it a try..... no go! so double check the lines,,, clamps,,... still nothin !! Guy said he had it running 6 months ago and it ran like a dream wtf? so grab an old boat tank that have... put in fresh gas, run the lines, and tadah! she starts and runs.. like a dream?... almost.. has a pretty good lifter tap, carb leaks and probably needs a rebuild.. small leak in the surge tank.... other than that all loks good.. ran her about 15 mins gotta check the temp guage, (cuz it didnt move at all).... elcectrical all checks out.. next the brakes and trans... starting a 36hr shift .. so looks like Saturday is going to be a good day... gonna make my list for parts and repairs needed then it is off to the swapmeet at the fairgrounds on Sun.. woohoo!

    thanks for the support...

I have a 62 parts care if you need anything. Anything that is 4 door specific and not too large is up for grabs. PM me if I can help.
