Something tells me the topic AND the responses are well rehearsed.

Spent some time at their booth at SEMA this year. Looks good. An option for materials you cant plate, they even had vinyl seats coated.

I think seeing photos is an excellent idea, the other threads did not cover actual photos. Hope we can see some. I happen to like N.J. :D

  13. I've PERSONALLY sprayed this shit. With the proper de-ionized water and the etching primer and pretreat wash. My opinion is it looks just like CHROME when you first get done washing it. Then you clear it with the supplied clear and it gets dull and lifeless. This was several years ago when I put my time and money into this crap only to be let down. Maybe they have better clear now that dosen't yellow?
Here is a pic of a grille we did for BREAD SLED:

It got sold and is now living in Sweden. Here is a vid:

you get what you pay for. there is a reason real chrome plating is expensive. its worth it.

  17. I have heard good things about spectra chrome but have never used it myself.I would be willing to try it.

It takes special equipment to spary Spectra Chrome and it is very expensive. It looks like the real thing when done properly but I don't think it is much cheaper than chrome when all is said and done.

  20. Spectra chrome is silver nitrate... same stuff they use to resilver mirrors... Except to put it on the OUTSIDE of a piece that is glass smooth, then get the clear on PERFECTLY, quickly, before the atmosphere starts tarnishing the silver.

If that all works well, you may get a nice looking part that will last a few years.

I went to the class and sprayed it. I"m getting ready to buy the system to start doing it. Coast is not that bad. Lets say you chrome a 50's caddy bumper ends what does it cost, about 500 dollars each just ball park. What if you could do it for 450 for both not bad, and if done right it will last longer than this cheap chromeing jobs that so many people here have bitched about. Chromeing is becomeing a lost art EPA regs. have just about shut the doors on most the shops. If you find a chrome shop for the most part the farm the work out. Then they mark it up so they can make there money.

What I want to know is wnen you buy the cheap chrome can of spray paint, how do they get the caps of the cans to look like chrome? The paint inside doesn't resemble the tops at all.

at $1500 a gallon you better know how to use it - looks like a lot of wasted product dripping on the floor. I think it is cool but not at that cost.

The caps are vacuum plated, just like the chrome on your plastic model cars.
