Has anyone used these? How are they? I'm thinking about a set of 14's for my 64' chevy...[IMG]

had em on my 31, loved em.. i had the first set of double whitewalls

  3. I am considering these for my next project. I am curious how they wear, since they are radial design, with bias sharp edges. Also, how do they handle as apposed to a regular radial tire. Come on guys that have used them, speak up!

Back from the dead, but Im curious as well how these tires handle as opposed to just going with bias plys. Is it worth the extra cost and weight, on the site all their tires shipping weights seem pretty heavy, for the radial handling advantage? Or do the caps make these Hurst tires behave like a bias ply anyway?

  5. Somebody must be running these on the street, or are they that bad?

have these tires on the last three hot rods i've built and they are great! they drive and ride like the radial that they are yet have a great bias-ply look. Plus you get them from steve and cody at addam's hot rod rubber and you wont deal with two better peiple.

Thanks, Ive been trying to decide on what tires to get for my Chevelle, Im trying to recreate a period correct NHRA Junior Stock drag car, but to be driven on the street, I was going to go with real cheater slicks and bias ply clamshell skinnies up front on cragar wheels, but was worried the car would handle terribly on the highway since it is mostly a street car. How is the weight of the Hurst tires, are they extremely heavy? I know they are not really for all out performance and more for the look, but they have to at least hook up better then the awful BFG Radial T/A's I have now. Just dont want a tire/rim combo thats so heavy the car gets real slow cause of it. What do you think? These do sound like the way to go however to retain driveability with a period look.

How safe are these on the highway? I was wanting to buy these for the front of my car but didn't think recap fronts would be smart for some highway use.

yeah, still haven't decided here on my end either..

Rat121, any photo's of the chevelle? i would like to see it.. that is my favorite period for muscle cars.. I just picked up a set of 15x4 s/s cragars for my 55' g***er but may end up running them on my 64' belair for awhile too..

  10. Bobwop, how many miles have you put on these tires on the street? Do the edges of the tires start to wear round at all? After all we are talking $400.00 for two tires, plus shipping. I think most of us are not afraid of the price as much as how much wear we are going to get out of them!
