Does anyone know if disc brakes from another car will bolt on to a 1956 Chrysler Newport? If so what donor car should I be looking for? My grandpa got another project up his sleeve i guess, he called me at 11:00 last night to ask me about this.

I have a '55 Windsor (same car for all ractical purposes) and I, too, would like disc brakes. To the best of my knowledge, there are no modern disc brakes that will "bolt on" these cars. Even the disc brake kit vendors list kits for for doge and Plymouth but skip the Chrysler/DeSoto of this era.

None of that is to say disc brakes CAN'T be adapted........just haven't yet found an advertised source for a ready to bolt on kit. Perhaps and inquiry to these vendors will produce some good news on that score.

Give OldDaddy on this forum a shout. He makes adapters for the smaller cars and Pickups, may have an idea about the later larger cars.

Also take a look at the forum on Forward Look to see if it has been addressed there.

Might also want to check the Imperial club also.
