So who has a passion for their 4 door Merc? Why did you build it over a 2 door? Have one on the go as a project? How about inspiring us 4 door fans with some pix.

While the 2 door will always be the top cat, I'm seeing more 4 doors make their way out of hiding and back onto the road. I couldnt say no to my barn find that had been parked for 25 plus years. Nearly rust free, the community of mice were given the boot and she's been pulled home.
After fiddlign with the distributor and a lil deisel down the holes, she fired up and purrrrrs just sweetly.

A little face wash and it looks a lot better sitting in the shop.

But now my mind is turning to doing something mild to it. Louvers are coming and I picked up a sweet set of real spots for it.

So guys, would ya share some pics of your 4 doors to help put a fire under me ass and get the creative juices flowing?

I hear ya Tony, and what a sweet ride... A lot of my buds are to fat or too old to make it behind a seat, that's why i was sold on a 4 door. I never thought i'd say it but in a blink of an eye... my buddie's got old. thankfully I haven't aged.

I'm kinda leaning this way.... but open to suggestions. I want to keep mild but old school.

I've had a four door or two, but mostly two door Mercs. I don't have many friends, so the shuffling isn't a problem. ;)

Here is one of my old gals.

Here is one I did for a friend of mine. Bought as a runner, and I use that term lightly, had a ton of hidden rot, rockers were gone, grill shell was wiped, every lower extremity was a joker. Now building a chopped '49 2 door that's going to be his daily driver when he gets back from overseas.

Now, if you find that you no longer want to roll 4 door, but become attatched to the Merc, fear not! This is what we did to a friend of mines '51 here a few weeks back.

As we got it in NC.

Minus some doors with a new '50 coupe roof on in it's new 2 door form.

  12. I've always loved 4drs. I'm gonna build one for my wife. Bright red, white interior, white Carson top. Kinda like the David Lee Roth Merc with the white scallops.

I like this thread. I thought I would build this as a 2-door, but I have changed my mind. To many children needs 4-doors...

I will repair this one, not restore...

I really like the look of your friends car. Uncluttered, simple and cool.

Been prepping the body. I'm thinking midnight blue- satin.
The Diamond backs are coming in 3 weeks and I'm laying the paint in the next 10 days.

  28. Here is mine. It's a 51'. I'm just wrapping replacing all the wiring then it's on to converting to 12 volt. After that, I'm am going to lower it a tad more and add dual exhaust. Down the road I want to do a mild engine hop up. I also have an accesory steering wheel I need to restore. The four door is nice for hauling the kids around!!
