I am moving the master cylinder from the fram to the firewall. The brake pedal is moved from the right side of the steering collum to the left which means the gas pedal will be a good 8 inches away at least so I will need to put on a new gas pedal ***embly with a cable setup . I dont need anything fancy . I just want something that works. Any suggestions on suppliers. I am looking for a kit that I dont need to buy anything else to make it work. This should be my last hurdle for me to get the car on the road.

I use LoKar a lot but they do cost a little more... try summit on line they handle a few gas pedals that don't cost an arm and a leg...

If you have any hot rod cells in your blood stream head to the local wrecking yard and pull a unit from a late model wreck. Most are very simple in design and are cable operated. Shouldn't take more than an hour to locate and pull one.

I have used Chev PU gas pedals on a couple of my projects. Not a bolt-in, you do have to make some mods but they are cheap and making them fit is the game. Ter409

Thank you all for replying . This gives me a great starting point. I will let you know what I end up with.

  12. I got a gas pedal (or as my late father called it, a "foot feed") from an '80s vintage Camaro, took the plastic pedal pad off, cut the s**** from my '38 Ford pickup's original pedal and welded it onto the Camaro pedal arm.

Is it just me that hates those Lokar gas pedals?!?

I grabbed one from an 80's buick or something at pickapart. It's plastic and has fancy chrome around it :)

I wanted one that was comfortable and didn't cost much, but next time maybe I'd just buy a s**** type from a catalog

The early 70s Fords all have a variation on a theme. A simple firewall mounted accelerator pedal ***embly which mounts with 2 bolts/screws.

I couldn't find one that I liked, or that would fit like I wanted, so I built my own. It's not a complicated part to fab, and mine works great.

I ordered a lokar pedal ***embly and cable. I dont have a welder readly avaliable so this was my best option. Thanks again for all your input.

Watch that Lokar unit. I used one and it was ****. each time I would reinforce the weak area on the ***embly the flex point would just move to the next area. After messing with it for 6 months I junked it and modified a GM factory unit that has worked flawlessly ever since I installed it.
