Well, all of your support and effort is paying off!!!!!! Here's the latest letter from Kevin Jeffries...

Job well done! AB 1740 passed off of the Assembly Floor, on a vote of 42-20. Please note that this vote count may change slightly; but the bill will have the requisite 41 votes to pass! I want to extend many words of thanks to everyone who helped. Next step is Senate Transportation Committee, which will be our toughest battle yet.

    Thanks again.

    Andrew Shedlock
    Office of Assemblymember Kevin Jeffries

    Keep up the good work!!!

I am confused. Something I want to see happen (and am working on) in government seems to be happening. Weird.

The same way we invented hot rodding.

Thanks, now unless you have something positive to say about our state, we'll take care of this ourselves. You worry about keeping hot rodding going in VA.

This is great news guys. Let's keep up the constructive, positive pressure.

  14. Absolutely, we can't let up now. And for those of you outside California, pray for us, because other States have a nasty way of adopting our laws.

A lot of our work so far has been educating our legislators about the facts. And many have crossed over to our side. Contact your Senator, and tell them how most of our cars are limited use, well maintained, and contribute to the economy and charities. And pass this on to everyone you can.

    What's your point Calorchard?

Not everyone on this board is straight. Let's try to keep this to the topic at-hand.

My point is if the HAMB can get the lady out to some shows/builders and see the diverse people on the board it will get he to see the light. She is very narrow minded by the response -

"WE WANT YOUR CARS REGULATED, WE WANT A MILEAGE CAP ON YOUR CARS, WE WANT YOU TO HAVE TO PURCHASE A PERMIT TO DRIVE THEM AND WE WANT YOU TO TRAILER YOUR CARS TO AND FROM YOUR EVENTS.<o></o>
<o></o>When she was asked, &#8220;What about a guy that wants to drive the Route 66 to <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Chicago</st1:city></st1> and back?&#8217; Senator Kehoe&#8217;s response was, THEY BETTER HAVE A TRAILER WAITING FOR THEM WHEN THEY RE-ENTER <st1:state w:st="on">CALIFORNIA</st1:state>, WHY WOULD THEY WANT TOO WASTE THEIR MILES DRIVING TO <st1><st1:city w:st="on">CHICAGO</st1:city></st1>?"

this sucks ! not her choice in lovers.....

If the Senator for our specific area is not on that list, what should we do? Maybe just write all of them a positive note of encouragement and hope they still listen at least a little? Or should we still write our personal Senators? Senator Loni Hancock represents Dist. 09 for Berkeley.

side note...I did route 66 last year, it would have been AWFUL to trailer my car to the State line and then back in. I can't even imagine that.

Has the bill changed? I just checked out the one that passed and it looks like it has changed to 750 cars per year. I thought they were eliminating the number of cars?

The change in the number was a compromise to get it passed. Usual politics.

Because of the great response we are actually working with a couple of the politicians to draft new legislation in our favor. Stay tuned!!!

What if you were to take some really nice classics by their offices so they can look at, sit in, and maybe even go for a ride in? I know that if I was behind a desk all day and someone pulled up in a mid-50's Cadillac I'd be jazzed.

THE POINT IS KNOW YOUR ENEMY! This individual has demonstrated by word and deed that she is ANTI automobile and more specifically ANTI ENTHUSIAST AUTOMOBILE. It will be a shame to have to mount a campaign to unseat this elected official and others after the fact. The time is NOW! You need to act before they install more laws to limit and prohibit the very activities with the automobile that you're on this board to read and interact about. We as auto enthusiasts need to use every legal means possible, just as our enemies do, and if that means going after an individual's moral character if they deserve it, so be it. Do you think they will be doing any less? The point about being in California to have an opinion is groundless, this is a battle that is, or will be nationwide. We need to all rise up and be heard. If you don't fight the battles as they come along, you will surely loose the war.

I don't have any enemies, just friends I have not won over yet.

A persons gender, or sexual preference is not only not relevant to me, it is not relevant to this discussion, and moreover it is not relevant to this discussion board.

Discussing a persons perceived moral character IS the very definition politics, and is not allowed here.

Both are off topic, and risk getting this valuable thread closed or deleted.

Can we please try to keep this constructive and positive? You don't have to be in California to have an opinion, but you might have to live here, or have lived here to understand how this state is and works.

Been there, done that (lived in California). Everything a politician does is about their moral character. Being obtuse about the problem will allow them to run roughshod over the populous they are put there to serve.

As far as the particular politician mentioned, the poster simply inserted a Wiki biography, and you were the first (only) one to say anything specific about that individual's personal and sexual preferences.
