    i just watched that movie.

1957 co-staring a young Shirley Jones(later know as the mom from the partriage family)

really cool flick, after getting into trouble with the law in chicago for swipping a car.,he gets shipped of to his uncles horse farm in kentucky. while there his uncle had a non running 1942 ford convertable in the barn, Nick (pat boone) gets it running complete with a 2X1 intake adapter and dual carbs with help from shirley jones (running hoodless most of the movie its shown).hauls ass around the dirt horse racing track and then drag races on some back country road against a lil foreign roadster.

i had no idea this movie had anytype of hotrodding in it,so it was an awesome suprise.

I finally got my hands on a copy of "The Last Chase", I hadn't seen it since I was a kid! Cheesy movie, cheesy acting, but damn if that little Porsche still didn't look awesome running down an open highway! Burgess Meredith as a jet pilot actually MAKES the movie!

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it but Thunder Road with Robert Mitchum is a great one in my opinion!

  9. A Woman of Distinction, 1950 with Rosalin Russell.

2 flathead powered 1929 hiboy roadsters race each other and lots of scenes with them.

"Liberal" directors from the 50's were famous for putting in hidden sexual meanings in their flicks to beat the censors who watched over them with an iron fist and this movie was full of them.

In one scene after being taken home in one of her students roadster, old maid schoolteacher Rosalin Russell makes the comment to her friend.... "I just love young men and their hot rods"

I'm paraphrasing the comment because I can't remember how she actually said it but there was not doubt what she was referring to. It was all out blatant.
