Hate to say it man,but fact is if you fight this next the guy and his city ***hole buddies will have the E.P.A.,O.S.H.A.,and every other damn inspector on your doorstep and you won"t even be able to change your on oil in the garage.Pay the damn fine and just keep an eye out for this ***hole to messup himself. The only way to beat the system is with their own rules. Its sad but true.Don"t do something stupid cause you know you want to.

Pay the fine and move along, it's still cheaper than renting a paint booth.

And next time, do your painting early Sunday morning. Fewer code enforcement peeps then.

Your right, I did violate the code.

    I'll pay the fine.

Problem is the code also applies to everything else.

wait untill he paints his house

  7. Move. it's a no win situation, I got lucky having neighbors next door that run a landscaping supply business out of their back yard,(zoned residential) so they will definately not be calling and complaining about anything. And New York Prosecutors really have a hard on to make money for the state. They will keep you paying out of pocket for years in court costs and fines, Also now that you have been tagged once expect to get a lot more of it.

If it were me I would cease all painting operations and plant the most aromatic and pollen producing plants I could find as close to this neighbors property as I could, either that or get a couple of stray cats to shack up and make kittens,(using his flower beds and yard as a litter box) when animal control comes say hey they are not mine they just stay around here.

I guess that is why I have the label FNG. I'll get off your board.

I once painted a car in an apartment complex in Palo Alto, but that was a long time ago.

I recently made a paint booth at a farmer's ranch for an elaborate flame job on my minivan, which I did myself. Agricultural exemption, so I'm OK. I could spray lacquer, too, on furniture or ag equipment. I plan to call my next car a tractor.

Pay the fine. The law exists, and you broke it. If you were painting your house, you might have a winnable case, but painting a car is a loosing argument. Too toxic and picked up by winds.

    Neighbors can ****. That's why I don't have any.

get some guys/girls over there & set up a drum set & a couple of electric guitars in the driveway. have a Sunday morning jam session.

your neighbor must have a uptight ol'lady you might have to go over there and get down on your knees to smoooooth things out.:D

5K would rent a shop for while too. Me being me I think he'd wake up to a yard full of dog-cow poop, scooped up and placed inside that fence.

first off you live in irondequoit. they give you tickets when you go 5mph over the speed limit. all i can suggest is get some blinds for the garage windows and paint it at like 3am on a sunday night when every one will be asleep

like it's been said, pay the fine, be smarter next time looks like you were pretty blatant about it. If your not prepared to knock your neighbor out, avoid him

there's a long list of cool things you could do, non of them smart and if your posting this on a message board you probably wouldn't do anyways

Hey yeah, it's tough out here at times. There's lots of good stuff but sometimes it takes a tough skin to survive.

re: the fine? Consider it tuition for going to the school of hard knocks. It ****s but not all is as we hope or wish it to be. And if you can't move and can't beat 'em, maybe join those code enforcers. Sometimes just getting to know 'em can have a settling affect and they'll be a bit more forgiving when it comes time to check for code violations. It worked for me once and I didn't have to kiss anything.

    good luck.
