ok so I read all the excellent information on here about pinstriping and I wanted to give it a try. So for Christmas my fiance got me a book a mack series 10 00 and some 1 shot. I copied one of the pictures from the book. It is a Von Franco Piece (sorry Von Franco my attempt doesnt do your piece justice) any way last night was my first night of practice and I will spare you that one. Tonight was my second attempt ever at striping anything. here it is: what do you think should I give up or keep practicing?
that's really good for your second try. I just started a few months ago and i'm no better than you..!! i just finished pinstriping a light switch face plate and i'm not too happy with it. what's weird is that i did great on a small round pumpkin which is 3 dimensional, but when i stripe flat pieces like gl***, metal panels, etc.. I struggle.... i thought the flat stuff would be easier.. must mean i don't know how to hold the brush right or just not enough practice. all I know is that you have to practice your *** off to get good.
cool Steve, looking good for a beginer,,keep up the good work! man, that **** is SO hard to do,,ive tried and tried,,,much credit to all those who can stripe!
Nobody gets good at anything by giving it up. Looks like you have the basic skills for that being the second try. Seems to be more of an addiction than a hobby for most. Keep it up!
thanks for the comments guys. uncle scooby naw I wasn't gonna give up its pretty damn fun. I have a couple things I know I need to work on like line width consistency and a lot of times when I lay my brush down to start a new line I get to much paint there I'm sure you can see some spots in the picture of that. Any suggestions on that. should I be already drawing the line as I lay my brush down? I tend to put it down in one spot and then begin to pull the line.
You're off to a good start! Here's a good place for help/info. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/pinstriperspage/ Also, for inspiration....http://66.183.190.188:8080/pinheadlounge/selectportfolio.php?dind=0 Pinstriping is worlds apart from any other "art" form. Like anything else though, it takes lots of practice. Two more days til the Weekend Art Show...better get busy with something to show off!
Not sure why I can't get the second link to work...maybe you can copy and paste it or some smart person can fix it?
That took care of my mouth full of coffee!!!! -MIKE [ QUOTE ] Looks like he's tryin' to pop a mean growler. [/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Your fiance did? What are you waiting for? Marry the girl! [/ QUOTE ] benzine I am february 19th. Thanks guys for the comments Barnett I've poked around pinhead lounge. I figure if I practice every night I should get better.
[ QUOTE ] Looks like he's tryin' to pop a mean growler. [/ QUOTE ] I was going to say that it almost looks like me after a night of beer and Mexican food. Except he isn't holding a bottle of Tums. Oh yeah, and I'm better looking.
