Just a few reminders guys ..

    • we cannot let any vendors in until 5pm on Sat..

(Arco has an event going on till 4pm that day).

so we take over of the parking lots at 5pm Saturday

SO Vendors PLEASE HANG BACK UNTIL AFTER 5PM
(anyone that is in the Sat 5 pm "cluster load in" will not be a happy camper ...much cooler to wait til after the great land rush till around 7pm)

    • there will be plenty of spaces for everyone ..(over 11,000)

the gates are locked tight til 5pm on Sat. and vendors will be blocked from entering the grounds any earlier ...
"even all my annual friends & buddies"

    ----------------
    • you can camp in your spaces overnight ... keep the music down- a few vendors will be sleeping ;)
I plan to have a food vendor there on Sat night
    -----------------
    • we have taken permits to shut down the roads in and around
the Arco Arena on Sat & Sun .. so please follow the
electronic sign messages and the "Hired" flaggers
and things should flow much better in & out ...
    ---------------
    • we will fill the vendor lots as you come in --no reserved spaces ..
(and please no empty spaces between vendors when you set up )
    ----
    • you can have any length you want
(divide the the length you need by 17 foot and that will give you number of spaces you'll need )

    i.e. 60ft divided by 17ft = 3.5 spaces
so you need to buy 4 spaces @$30 each
that wil give you a 68ft x 17 ft deep space

(plus it can be back-to-back for pull throughs)

we do not want to be the biggest swap meet ..

just the best traditional swap meet with "real" car guys & gals selling real parts... this is really a social event where you can meet old buddies and learn a lot about cars ..from all us old timers

(anyone wearing a "Poodle Skirt " will be shown
the road to Greedy Reno NV:eek:)

I am here for questions any time 916-955-8777
    or email renoswapmeet@mac.com
I can email you a app to preregister..

Note will NOT be taking any checks or credit cars at the gate
(we are still trying to collect on a bad check from a Radiator dealer in Sacramento-- thank him for this gate policy)

Ask now and avoid issues at the swap meet --

    there are NO Dumb questions
(except one -- Why did we bail out of our 20 plus year partnership
    with "Hot Greedy Nights")

yes we plan to do that -- you will proceed to the vendor west entrance and tell the guys you are for there for the " hot rod and cl***ic car" parking area

we will be charging $15 to park there... which includes admission to the event to all p***engers in the car .. you will be given" wrist bands and a sticker" for the car .. just NO FOR SALE SIGNS in the area!!!-- you will be able to park in two spaces to prevent door dings and I will have "swap meet amb***adors" patrolling the area to keep wagons and strollers out of there ...and handle any way ward lookers or kids .. it will be kinda a free car show for our spectators too .. looking forward to this feature

all the for sale vehicles must be in the car corral area --and you can be ***ured someone will try to save a buck and park in the .. hot rod and cl***ic car" parking area with a big for sale sign ..

ah the joys of running a swap meet and trying to cover all the angles :eek:and costs..

my main goal on Monday morning is everybody had fun, sold lots of cars and parts.. (plus all our Arco bills are paid ....( porta johns, clean up, workers, security, traffic permits , signs, etc )

I get great satisfaction wandering around the swap meet looking at the smiles on people faces.. enjoying themselves and reuniting with old friends and making new friends .. and I do feel the spirit of Bill Harrah and Bill Finefrock are a**** us .. and I am sure that they would approve of my moving the meet to Sacramento .
    ---------------------
also one other big tip .. my crew deals with all FOJ's (as they call it .).
"Friends of John" who need "special favors" ...
I ***ume a different name at each swap meet and only a few people know what that "name " will be each year ... last year I was Mr Bailey (one of my boxer dogs names) only the crew and certain people know the name... so when I get called on the radio I can respond to certain valid issues that arise ..
...I can't tell you the number of people that walk up and tell a crew member that I said that is okay for them to do this or that .. and I will be standing right there next to the person..

this tip will work for anyone else putting on a car show or a swap meet ... I have used this since 1999 when Finefrock shoved the swap meet on me..and I had so many new found friends that wanted free tickets, free spaces - and special favors and hitchhikers .

Sounds like you have a great game plan, good luck with the meet. Back in the 1970's a friend would load up his Suburban and head out to Reno from Connecticut and sellout. Common stuff from around here had a ready market out there.

lots of people coming a long way ... Canada, Mexico:confused:, Alabama, FL, NY, Rio Linda:D
after 45 years... we do have a following and a mail list of over 45,000.

(somethings Hot "Greedy" Nights just couldn't steal or hi-jack ,,
but they did keep the "slot machines" and "Summit Racing" which I am sure no one will miss at Arco Arena)

let me know if you guys need rooms .. I have a rate at two hotels nearby with a breakfast "to go" deal so you can bring it with you to the gate at 6am

and if my memory serves me right I gave you guys a sneak peak around ..Sat night in my golf cart that year ....

Note -- all Kiwis and Aussies will get a free copy of the N California Cruisin News at the Swap meet .. just show us your p***port at the Cruisin' News Booth ... Big Ray Ricci will be running the booth he's pretty well known by the Kiwis as a source for cars and parts in Nor Cal

and don't forget the "Moving Cruise" in downtown Sacramento on Saturday July 31st it is being put on by the California Automobile Museum -- Karen is looking at 400 cars .. it was great last year!! works as a prelude to the swap meet on Sun..

here's a pic from that year .. "In Rust We Trust" and the guys will be bringing a lot of "fresh rust" out for the swap meet this year .. to fill your "container" that you are shipping home.. I know your deep dark secrets :D

last minute update ... July 9th is the deadline to pre-register ..
fear not ---there will be space for non registered vendors on Sat night & Sunday morning

we will get everyone in ..

348 "real automotive" vendors have pre registered as of tonight .... more coming in the mail everyday..plus many commercial vendors too ...

I think everyone has finally figured out what the deal is ...
it's a real "rust fest" at Arco ....

please be sure to p*** the word ... just amazing the response ...
all kind of cars registered for the car corral too
might even sell my Pontiac sedan delivery ...

One last plea -- please don't come Sat until after 5pm --
we don't take over the grounds until after 5pm-- there is an event prior to our swap meet..

all roads will be blocked until 5pm on Sat night .. if you hang back till 7pm the gate rush should be over by then,

NOTE WE ARE PARKING ALL VENDORS in their spaces ..
there is no space selection ..

we are filling the grounds as you arrive to avoid gaps

please go to www.renoswapmeet.com read the FAQ's

lots of wild stuff is coming according to the sellers ..

do you know what this is? it has a VW motor!

Busy weekend, I know the swap is going to be the highlight for sure! I got about half of the f100 full. Not sure if I am going to haul out the gas pumps or not. Would anyone be interested in Erie clockfaces from the 30's?

Just got back from Salina KKOA. Loading up the truck and takin another leisurely 17 hour drive. Good to know about the 5:00 thing. Will find a place to chill out until around 7. Going to Sacramento Vintage Ford to get parts for my 48 Panel afterwards. The more I sell, the more I can buy. Will offer a 10% discount to Hamber's, look for the sign.
