eh up gents ive not posted in a dogs age so hope your all well and ive just fitted a pair of Porter mufflers on my coupe so heres a little vid of them i think theysound kind of groovey
they are a bit hard to hear over that noisy thing atop your engine.... you should take it off and send it to me. sounds good
GREAT! I just got my 2 Porters in the mail...2 1/2" in 2 1/2" out, and had NO idea what they'd sound like. What size are yours, and what size/model engine? Mine are going on the engine in my Avitar, and I HOPE they sound as good as yours. The Video is GREAT! You should send a copy to Porter...they'd love it...
I had an older hot rodder tell me once that Smittys purr and Porters rap. Sounds great, I giggled too!
I had a pair of Smithys on my old '39 W/283, it ****ed.......you couldnt even hear it run. That video was great, I'm definitely considering a set of Porters for my car.
thanks very much chaps , the motors is a 302 cleveland with a v6/71 all home brewed (with a lot of help from my tamed engineering dude) the porters are 2inch in and out carnt wait to get it back out on the road
well ive been out for a blap round and they sound groovey (if i do say so lol)and they havent got that head splitting noise that you get with cheerybombs nice and smooth till you hit the loud ****on and thats about the time every one hears an 8 comming at them he he he
Porters were the hot tip back when I was a teenager in the 50's when it was flatheads, "pennies in the manifold" ( you used copper pennies, flattened out a little larger in OD, then file to fit and block the heat riser p***ages for a harder rap), and Porters. I would be using them on my current build, an A/V8 roadster w/SBC if I had an undercar exhaust, cause I love their sound. But I'm using Sanderson roadster type headers and I'm gonna use spiral turbo baflles inside the 3.5" side pipes. I finally found a U tube video of a set on a Vette, and I like the sound. Dave
Sound great! I finally ordered a pair for my Pontiac a week ago, but they are on backorder. I can't wait to get them.
Pulled the body off the Roadster last week, so that I could install the exhaust system the easy way. I had been wondering if I made the right decision, buying 40" X 2 1/2" Porters to put on my blown 291 DeSoto. Well, it WAS the right decision. Fired it up with the complete exhaust mocked up, and it's THE sound I was looking for! And the blower DOES whine...I can hear it now ...
