Traditional mind set?

  1. What goes more with the mind set of the original Hot Rodders, putting the newest/ hottest engine they could find. (Think Olds Rocket in 1950) or sticking to there 4 bangers and saying that OHV V-8's aren't traditional. Hot rods are supposed to be HOT and ignoring 60 years of technology doesn't jive with that. I'm not saying that I want to put a LS7 in my ride, but is it right to turn our nose up at people that want to?

Hot Rodding is about power. Traditional Rodding is using a package that fits a certian time period. I would never knock a guy for thinking outside the box but thats not what defines a traditional ride. With that said my 49 Cadillac will have a 505 ci Viper V10 and a T56 6 speed and I couldn't really give a shit what anyone has to say.

My neighbor owns a funeral home, he has a Caddy Hearse with a factory tunned port motor in it like the Corvettes, my barber has a 86 Buick Roadmaster stationwagon with the fake woodgrain trim on it. It also has the same motor, came from the factory like that. NOW THATS COOOL! Seeing them in a Vet or a Camaro that came from the factory is to dang common. It`s the rarity that people like. Would you like to see a LS7 in a 57 Chevy or an older Hemi. How many older Caddys have you seen in 50 Merc`s.

Of course I would be called a thread counter in the French and Indian War era. Tradtional only, no matter what hobby!

  11. I'm usually 100% with traditional motors, but what i don't care for is negativity towards others that don't necessarily want to go that route. All I want out of this thread is getting people to think. Maybe it'll open up someones mind.

It really isn't an "us VS them" kinda thing.
We simply choose to honour the old ways and styles and THIS board is dedicated to those ways and styles. No different than you might have a bike forum or a bus forum.
What fits, fits....what doesn't will fit in some other forum on the web.
The newest technology is all around us in EVERYTHING we use or touch.

Just because a coin collector might cherish a certain penny from 1929, doesn't mean he can't/won't accept a dollar bill from 2010.

All "you people", from both sides of the fence, who think theres an argument to be made over the "trad mind set"..either for or against...miss the point entirely.
