Ihave a 10 bolt from a chevy II nova and decided to updrade to disc brakes from the 98-02 LS1. My problem is for the life of me I can't get the spider gear pin out to rempve the axels. I've spent the last 6 hours trying to get this $Q#$@$^#%$ out! Short of dynamite, does anyone have any ideas?

Do you have a pic of the locking bolt that holds the spider shaft in??

I have seen a few where the tip of the locking bolt was sheared off by the spiders sticking to the shaft. Does yours look like the end is rounded, or if it looks broken off?

The pin definitely broke off. Spent the whole day trying to get the darned thing out. Found out it's not a good idea to use a hammer. This rear end's toast! Just happened to remember that I had another spare laying around. It's also a ten bolt but from a Camaro. It's about four inches wider but I was using two inch spacers anyway. The spring perches are even in the right spot. Talk about lucky!

I had one and after some time I went ******* on it with the 2lb sledge and the case cracked and the pin never sheared.
I have seen in a dana 60 they drilled at it from the other side to push it out from the new hole. I don't know if the case hangs out of the housing on a 10 bolt enough to do that or not. I had thought of trying to drill into the end of the pin at a 90 degree angle and try to pik it loose and blow it out with some air.
The axle shop told me if I got it apart they'd set up the gears but they wouldn't touch it as is.
They told me it happens from biffing the curb... The end of the axle strikes the spider shaft while the spider shaft is tight against the pin just right. They said a c-clip eliminator kit would prevent it.
The dana 60HD I had, the screw with the pin on the end was gone and the hole in the case and the shaft had been drilled out and a spring steel rollpin installed.
It was in a 1 ton truck so it prolly got a full portion of hurt put on it and it didn't fail
