Going for a road trip with my old lady, kind of a honeymoon thingy in the latter part of June. Going over to BC firstly to visit a friend then heading down the west coast on the 101. Probably going to mid way down cali then over somewheres and probably over to LV then off to Phoenix where my uncle lives then back up to canada through utah, colorado, wyoming then montana. Just wondering if theres any cool shops or shows and stuff along that way anywhere that I should check out?
Only show I've heard of is in colorado on my way backup, being the Rocky mountain SR nationals or something.
    Anyway thanks for any info.
Any hamb relays I could also probably help [IMG]

  2. Since you're going through Colorodo stop in at Streamline/Vintage Auto parts in Denver. Very cool hot rod shop and VAPHEAD and a couple other HAMBers work there!

Scottsdale is next to Phoenix...Pavilions is a mall with a huge parking lot...full of cars on saturday nite. I hear it's the longest running cruise nite in the US. Last time I was there was about five years ago...I'm positive it's still going.

Another spot I like in Phoenix is the South Mountain scenic overview of the city...at nite you can see the whole valley lit up...Also, don't forget the non car stuff...Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and other "touristry" spots.

tentatively around the 23-24 of june maybe alittle earlier or a little later. Unless I can weasel more days out of the boss then I might stay there be able to stay around for a little while. My uncle works at the chrysler proving rounds, last time we were down we got to go check it out, it was awesome so I want enough time to go there again if I can.
    thanks for the info
Hatch, I'm also planning hitting the tourist spots, afterall thats what a road trips about I guess lol. The old ladys hasn't travelled outside of western canada so it should be a great trip
I gotta try to get a few extra days since I'm getting cramped with only 2 weeks. lol

  10. Brizio's shop is in San Francisco if you get this far down.
Cole Fosters shop is in Salinas, a little further south.

Are there anymore places in Cali to go?
I was thinking of going down has far a salinas then maybe over to Ponoma to check out so cal speed shop.
I thought there would be a ton of cool shit to see in cali. If not maybe I'll just cut across to check the lights of the vegas strip and check out phx a little more.
Remember I from Canada and have never been to a real rod shop before or a show with over 300 cars. [IMG] [IMG]

  12. My friend Randy has a shop you would like to check out- sent you a PM. We are east of San Fransisco about 30 mins.

You can come by and check out the Goodguys headquartes in Pleasanton. Really just offices but there are lots of hot rod goodies on the walls and a warehouse full of cars.

Or you can come by Billetproof headquarters (my house). Much less impressive, but I have beer.

If you drive by Bakersfield you can look me up and have a cold one and kick a tire or two in my shop. Useless

May 27th, 28th & 29th is paso robles which is too bad I'll be so close yet so far away.
Thanks for the site and invites, I'm not sure how far we are going to go down south, we'll see I guess.
Were going to be doing alot of camping too, keep things cheap and fun. That way maybe I can splurge on some rod stuff at these shops, instead of paying shipping hmmm. lol.
I was planning on checking out the moab in UT after phx but will probably cut that out and catch the Roadstershow then, if its good then I'll probably cut out the Rocky mountain Street rod nationals to conserve time and allow us to check out some of natures wonders along the way, appeasing the better half.

  19. Sacramento Vintage Ford is a good take. If you like bikes, there's Simms and Ness' in the Bay Area too.

If you are to be as far down as Pomona to see SoCal, try to run out to Redlands (just a little bit East of Pomona) to see Harry Nicks shop. He is a very talented builder and always has some interesting stuff going on. Sorry, I don't have specifics for the address, phone and so on. Perhaps some help here?

Also, seeing as you are going to be in Pomona, you should drive a little bit West on a Friday night and stop at Bob's Big Boy in Toluca Lake. Lots of neat cruising stuff there. As usual, I can get there but have no idea about the address or phone. More help, please.

Anyway, lots to do in the LA area. Enjoy your trip!

If you can stick around a bit longer, you might be able to hit the 4th of July BBQ at Premier Body and Frame(3029 W. Clarendon, Phx). Frank and Howard build model T, Model A and Deuce hot rod frames, do general hot rod/race fabrication, body work and frame repair. The 4th of July BBQ is always a hoot, plenty of good grub, cold beer, good people and lotsa bitchin' heaps to see. Even if you can't be there for the BBQ, stop by the shop any how, they're open Mon. thru Fri. and ther is always someone around on Sat morning.
