well might as well fill some extra time tonite with a build thread. First off im pretty new here. Im 23 years old grew up going to car shows and helping work on my parent's rides. A few weeks ago a co-worker of mine traded a s-10 with a 350 in it for a 1952 buick thats was in decent shape. I thought he landed on gold, the s-10 wasnt anything special other then the engine. The car sat in his driveway about a week, then he started looking to get rid of it. He posted it up on craigslist got alot of calls asking for trades and such. But i think he wanted money more then anything. One day i decided to give him some food for thought, how bout 1500 cash and yamaha blaster atv? To my surprise he went for it. SO here it is, i dont really know where im going with it yet. Other then its just gonna be a driver and not sit inside the shop like my parent's do. I started cutting out some rust, sanded down the peeling paint on the roof and primered it. Painted the wheels red until i get everything worked out on the cragar ss wheels
Looks like quite a solid car. I am a fan of older Buicks but for years didn't pay much attention to most of the early 50's models. In recent years I have taken a liking to the 2 door sedans and coupes like yours. It's your car, but if it were mine, I wouldn't do anything radical to it. It has great lines, trim, grille/bumper as is............maybe lower it a bit.......wheels/tires to suit your tastes.........good score! Ray
Yeah i think im just gonna paint it and rod up the engine a bit. Put an interior in it. That will probly sum everything up. Too me from what i gather, seems like there are too few of these things floating around to be chopin the tops and shavin everything on one of these
I was given a 49 four door in the early 90's. The "Large Barge". It was all original and purred after some work. I got thumbs up from a guy inna Viper.. The hood on those is the best ,sideways opening and removable like that. Enjoy it. I'm with ya on the choppin it up. Theyre fine as is. And big as a bus.
I prefer the red steelies. The cragers are good looking wheels, but there's no way they fit the image of that Buick. Save them for a Camaro or Elco................
if the engine is stock, leave the exhaust alone unless it is rusted out. then go simple and cheap. Its not a compact so it does not need an oversized muffler
