I'm really hoping for once the board can stay totally positive about a project...I, for one, would love to see more pics and hear more stories from the builder about his very cool recreation. If anyone feels the need to post anything to bring people down, PLEASE, just for once, keep it to yourself....now, back to the car....MORE PICS PLEASE!!!

Can anybody explain to me how the rear axle works? It has two differentials, so is one locked solid? Or both? If both were free wouldn't the centre connecting axle bit just spin instead of the car moving.

Sorry this isn't in the 'gobsmacked and in awed' spirit of most of the thread, but I think the original car looks a bit wierd to tell the truth, though I love the engineering aspects [IMG] [IMG]

With 2 open diffs,AND the center axles connected,
all the power goes to the wheel with the least traction, just like any other open diff.

I am not sure what it is , but there is something about that wild lookin`chassis that makes me start dreamin`...
First vision was a chopped`55 chev 2dht body ( all black ) sitting on top of it . Do you remember that excellent `55 that was in the First " Best of HOT ROD magazine " book back in the eighties ?? Help me out here ... Nutn` wrong with the "one-eyed" concept , but we rarely see ( if ever before ) this kind of chassis-work on hamb anymore , so , Let us have a brainstorm ... Please ... [IMG]

In the Hotrods by Ed big daddy Roth book, Roth said he welded one set of spiders solid so he could run one or both engines together. two diffs would just let the idler shaft between them spin since it would have no load. I would think this car is the same or has a spool on one side, effectively the same as welding the spider gears.

When's it coming out to it's rightful "Home" The beautiful city of Bell?
Is it gonna see Los Angeles any time soon or aare we all gonna have to make a pilgrimage?
GNRS showing next year would be nice, hint hint.... [IMG]

just wanted to say how grateful I am to all the positive feedback about the car. It's been a lot of hard work. Unfortunatly I still have alot more work to go on it before it's ready for Detroit. So, you won't hear much from me because I'll be out in the garage finishing the rest up. But by all means, keep enjoying the pictures and hope to see ya out at Detroit. Need to get back out there and start sanding again. Thanks again.

Build a new livingroom around it man. It will be a waste to store in a garage when you are done.

But the two inner drives of the diffs are connected to each other, and to nothing else, so they'll just spin like crazy, driving nothing.

  21. What happened to all the pics??? :(

I must've missed this one when it first came up. Can anyone re-post the pics?

    Please.

There must be a logical explaination.

Failing that, there will be pics taken when it debuts at Autorama.

whats the big deal with posting pics?

they've already been posted? its no mystery...

It woulda been cool to see the build up of the car... vs. the final product. I always enjoy seeing the build process and pics of that nature. I would have way more respect for it seeing the blood sweat and tears that went into it.

Watching Moriairtys Outlaw clone go together with upadates far outweighed starring at it in his living room.

I guess I dont get the whole supersecret thing...

  26. Not if you saw them the first time. I've been away a fair bit lately and with the way the HAMB moves these days, it's hard to keep up!

    Me neither...

...........just a guess on my part??? Some people only have limited space to host photos. After they post something for a while, they take the photos offline to make space for new ones. Could this be the case here?? Again, just a guess........ Other than that, someone MUST have saved them when they were originally posted and may re-post them..........

The best showcar ever. The best true automotive artist so far. The most original independant thinker in car culture so far. Ed Roth was too open minded for this culture, I just wish he paid a little more for artwork! Hardy har just kiddin'...
