I picked up my new 1941 Plymouth PT-125 pickup this afternoon! It's a turn-key truck, ready to have fun with. It has the original Plymouth engine, with a Fenton aluminum head and a few other underhood goodies. It also has the stock four-speed granny-first trans. Starts and runs great! I traded a fellow HAMBer my '37 Terraplane for this truck. He owns 16 pre-war pickups, including three Terraplane pickups; two '37s and a '38. The Terraplane brougham will compliment his selection of Hudsons, for certain. Apart from a couple of spots on the Plymouth that need attention to the paint, it's ready for any show, IMO. This is a very rare truck, with only 6,037 built in '41, which was the last year for a Plymouth-badged truck or van until the 1976 Trailduster (Ramcharger) and Plymouth Voyager full-sized van. I plan on taking the Western turbine wheels off and putting on a set of 16x4 stock wheels, wide whites, and stock Plymouth hubcaps. I'll get the beast tagged and ***led soon, and start enjoying it! The local Armed Forces Day parade is this Saturday, and I think that's where it'll make its debut. Also, there is an upcoming local Mopar-only show, and the El Reno Route 66 show/cruise that I plan on taking it to, for starters. Another happy camper with another HAMB-friendly toy!
Love the truck....it would be nice to get a new toy that dosn't need a million hours of extra work. Enjoy.
Nice score! What made you want to get rid of the Terraplane? I think the 37 Terraplane grille is a piece of art!!!
And I continue with my proud and completely unintended string of green (or greenish!) vehicles! Thanks for the compliments, gents!
Just time for a change, I guess. It's a wonderful-driving car that will do 65 without problems with the overdrive. I've had the car six years this month, and was just in the mood for a neat change. I still have a Terraplane grille that I thought I had sold, but I think I'll hang onto it for a possible future hotrod build with that beautiful Terraplane grille! I had looked at several trade possibilities over the past couple of months or so, but either the logistics were not favorable, we could not agree on a final deal, or either myself or the other person just said "no, thanks". Patience has a way of providing a golden opportunity, sometimes!
I like it. If my '41 coupe were finished, they'd make a nice pair. PM me if you want that set of 16X4 wheels.
That, is a very clean looking ride. There is one of those trucks being built, in the shop next to mine. It's losing the flathead though, in it's place will be an Aussie 6 cyl. Hemi.
